I have a 2016 can someone recommend some good LED headlamps i want to do Hi Lo and fogs.

My question is since my DRL double as my HI i was wondering would i need risitors, so i dont blow the bulb? Some say it lowers the power other say it pulses light and if it pulses i need risitors and if it dims i dont. I have no clue so any help would be great i want to get this started, and have someone instal because wiring is my weakest point, unless someone can really help out and show me how to install.

I've been looking at getting the Morimoto 2Stroke from the retrofit source recently. I'll give ya a review once I order and get them installed. I know they work with our DRL's.

Please tell me what you think i am almost to the point of just doing my Lo and fogs. I would love to have Led drl i think it would enhance the look of the truck. Please post when you have them and how easy are they to install i would imagine it being tough with a buld that has wires to double as a drl and Hi beam.

Will do. As far as fogs go, get the Morimoto XB fogs. I just installed mine today and they put the stock fogs to shame.

I've still been doing research. Trying to find a balance between install ease, maintainence, output and price. Everytime I find a bulb system I like, there's some drawback that turns me away.

Current LED technology doesn't have the light throw distance of Halogens, but LED's are whiter and brighter than Halogens. I was looking at HID to have the bright white light, but I've read they cause glare in our projectors. Both LED and HID require cutting a hole in the dust covers. All that's why I haven't pulled the trigger on any one kit.

I had the same thought about the dust covers. But, probably cheap to replace if ever needed to go back to halogen.

    True.

Also, here's another reason that I haven't pulled the trigger on an HID kit. That cut off is pretty meh.

I agree on the cut off its not that good, and the dust covers are needed in my situation. I live on non lit country back roads and drive down a lot of sand and mud roads.

I want to do same as JBTRD; that is upgrade Hs, Ls & Fs. Been watching this thread. Noted Dark Knight just posted got the Xenondepot H11....would like to know how those turn out and, like JBTRD was wondering, if work Lo & Hi/drl

For PVT Pablo.....the morimoto XB fogs look good....would like to order some.....went to Morimoto web site....can you confirm those are the universal 70mm model....and did those come with housing/did you use the housing or just the bulb.

    thnx

I have done some research some LEDs come in dual watt already for that part number, like some vehicles have Lo and Hi in one bulb need dual watt bulbs, my next thing is i want to have my fogs on anytime so i can have my hi beams and fogs so i can see any ditches or rocks in the road.

I also just ordered the Xenon Depot Xtreme HID kit for thr low beams. They had 20% sale so I said screw it. All the reviews pointed to it being a superior kit over the Morimito HID kit.

I'll post up a review when I receive them.

The Morimito fogs for the 4Runner are the T model, not the universals. I would post up a link but it goes to the home page of the morimoto site. The fogs you want are towards the bottom of the fog light page. It is the entire fog light housing you will replacing. Also, they're awesome, you wont be disappointed.

Would someone please explain the DRL and Low beam relationship. I believe i read where they are the same bulb. Are they dual element or control by different voltages ?

Your headlights have four bulbs. The turn signal, corner light, low beam halogen projector, and finally the high beam/DRL. The highbeam/DRL is a 9005 that runs at low voltage for the DRL, and then full power for the high beam. It is a single filament bulb.

Thanks. I guess that is the reason many LED options are unavailable.

PVT Pablo I think I might have seen you post something about these lights after the install, but I can't seem to find it. I guess it was a year ago now...
Anyway, curious how the HIDs turned out. I'm looking at doing both low and high beams, and thinking about going with Xenon Depot 5000k... Did you do the high beams as well? I take it I need the CANBUS with the high beams, but not for the low beams?

I wanted yellow fog lights, and in the mean time went the cheap route with Auxbeam LEDs off Amazon in 2700k. They are ok but I will probably upgrade when I do the rest of the headlight package.

On another note does anyone here know how to rewire the fog lights so that they can be turned on independently of the headlights?

The Xenon Depot 5000K HID's in my low beams have been going strong since install. They match perfectly with my Morimoto XB fog lights.

You do not need CANBUS for the 4Runner so you can skip that option. I'm still running stock halogens in my high beams. I haven't found a viable replacement yet. HID's aren't the best option as they have a warm up time and the throw distance for LED's just isn't there.

I pulled the trigger on black Friday and purchased the Xenon Depot 4300K Phillips Bulb HIDs for my low beams and the Xtreme LED pro in the high beams.

The HIDs in the low beams are incredible. Nice white light and so much brighter than stock. Only issue is now on dark two lane roads oncoming traffic often thinks that I'm high-beaming them, even though the cut-off is still stock height. Which brings me to the LEDs in the high beams...

The LEDs are almost as impressive as the HIDs and totally worth it. Crystal white light that reaches very far. Yes I no longer have DRLs, but on a dark two-lane road with the high beams its like a UFO is lighting my way. I feel bad searing the retinas of oncoming traffic to prove that OK NOW my high beams are on. Oddly, the passenger side LED would only work without the CANBUS, and the driver side would only work WITH the CANBUS.

Anyway, great improvement over stock. Super easy install.
