howdy...picked up a 4Runner to use as a beater and had a few issues that the forum and google helped me out with. However, I can't find a solution to this one...

The tailgate key switch turns left to raise the window, but will not turn right to lower the window. I got 4 keys with the rig, all are aftermarket and all work in all holes, but none turn the tailgate switch to the right.

I'm about ready to order a salvaged switch from eBay, unless someone out here has an idea to fix it.

Yeah this forum is kind of dead.
Hey man I have a similar rig, and my key has worked fine. It was not the OEM key either. Could be a switch issue unfortunately. As far as I know the key that starts the car will open that window!

I have that issue sometimes. Try a little graphite powder lube in there, its supposed to help.

For mine I've discovered that some of my keys work better than others. Strangely the key I have that was cut slightly wrong works best. No idea why :notsure:
