    Hello,

I have a 2007 4Runner with 221,000 miles on it. I have never serviced the transmission or done anything to it. Oil has been changed regularly (full synthetic). I recently noticed a slight shaking at about 30 mph and it goes away after an increase in speed. This happened once before and the guys at the tire shop rotated my tires and said they were a little off balance. I also spoke with another mechanic who said that it is too late to service the transmission now since l have never done it before and that if l serviced it, l could really mess it up. Any thoughts on the above and whether the shaking could be a transmission issue. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum, i would try having the tires balanced first.

Wow, you never even did a drain and fill? Have you ever checked the fluid level? Vibration could either be the tire balance, wheel bearing, or drive shaft. As far as your tanny, definitely do not do a flush but I would think several drain and fills over the course of a few months wouldn't hurt.

@DM75 I bought my 04 @ roughly 200k miles, not entirely sure the previous owner did any trans drain/fill. I did it anyways. I took a chance. Currently @ 260k and not a single issue YMMV. Just don't do a trans flush as trlhiker mentioned.

But start off with your tires and try rebalancing first. Maybe it will solve your problem.

I bought my 2007 with 193k miles, took it to the dealership and had them do a flush and fill service that way if anything went wrong they were the last ones to touch my transmission. No problems at 255k, knocks on wood.
