New owner - First 10 Upgrades/mods/accessories

New owner here - finally taking delivery of new TRD Pro and have been in the threads as people look for dealers and wait for their car.
What I haven't been able to find is a thread with what people will fir do/add to their new 4runner.
For me: (Coming up with ten was not easy believe it or not)
1. PPF and tint (I live in Colorado)
2. RSG Sliders (on order)
3. Air compressor (I bought Napa Maxi Trac)
4. Recovery strap (planning to go on trails, so makes sense)
5. USB upgrade in front (need a couple for sure)
6. Deflator (again, planning to go on trails, so makes sense) - Thinking Boulder kit
7. Seat back cover - protect back of rear seats - have sliding cargo, so at least cover seats
8. Leveling kit - not sure about this with a new car - recommendations
9. Minimalist front bumper that can work with TSS - I know there are many recommendations, but TSS is a definite factor - still don't like idea of cutting
10. Basic winch - again know there are many recommendations, but given new products all the time, thought newer recommendations/thoughts.

Hoping for thoughts and recommendations.

3. I'd go with something better. Buy once, cry once.
4. Nothing with metal hooks. I have a Wheeler's Offroad strap.
6. I'd go with something like a ARB deflator. It works faster than the screw on type. Also consider a Morflate kit.
8. I'd save for shocks.

 

Pass on leveling kit. The pro is already pretty level.

@Grant - nice list and nice looking rig. I know I could go wild with upgrades, but taking it slow.
@whippersnapper02 - was thinking ARB, but the reviews on this seem to be pretty good and for the $100, I'll give it a a try. Definitely no metal hooks Smittybilt/Rhino probably (figured one for myself and one for son-in-law since he will probably be trailing with me)
@Jynarik - thanks, I just looked at the picture I got of mine when it was delivered yesterday in Tennessee - means I need to look for something else for number 8 on the list

This is what I had wanted here was to get something started with some of the new 4Runner owners (like myself) and their ideas and a bit of feedback on that top 10 list.


Blank slate mostly - now time to paint!!

 

Some done, some planned, here's my list for my New Pro:

- Sliders / Steps (done)
- Console and Glove box Organizers (have them, just haven't installed yet)
- Black out Kit - my Pro has non-blacked out Toyota emblems front and rear, and the rear "4Runner". (3-piece kit Ordered)
- Replace the shift knob with a Tundra Pro black w/ Red stitching knob to match the rest of the interior. (Ordered)
- Paint and Upholstery protection (done)
- Ceramic Ting (as soon as I find a place with an opening!)
- Window Rain Guards (in-hand, but waiting until Tint is done and cured).
- Find the right sized slim, waterproof Plano or Pelican-like case that fits in the roof rack without sticking up too high. To house seldom-needed but necessary items (tow straps, shackles, bug spray, tool kit, raincoats, tire-repair kit, inflator, etc).
- Canvasback Cover for the cargo area and rear seat backs (still pondering the pattern)
- Not sure yet what #10 will be. Still reading / thinking / considering.

 

The list could easily go on forever, I thought top 3 or top 5 was too easy, but 10 items (especially for a new (to 4Runners) was a bit more interesting and not quite so easy to come up with.
I see from the input a couple other items that never crossed my mind (what's left of it anyways )

 

Before you start using it, look at and address if needed. The red 8 awg power wire that comes wrapped in heat shrink, mine had exposed wires that stuck out the sides which could eventually cause a short and possibly start a hazardous fire while in use. It looks like a 3 year old assembled it and forgot to heat shrink it. Put electrical tape on it and clean it up.

Also if you like, look into adding an on/off air pressure switch. You don't want this thing constantly running and risk over pressurizing, especially if you lend it to others who use it and they don't shut it off when moving from 1 tire to the next. W/ the switch it'll turn on/off at certain psi (depending on which one you get) so to never over pressure. A great safety device to have.

 

Thanks for the reminder, I had seen that warning as well - of course after I bought it. Power and volume are rated good on this and YouTube has had several reviews (Liked the one by oxfoot)
Will look into the on/off air pressure switch which would be easy think I have half the hardware, just need to find where I can but the pressure switch.
Figure I needed something that could handle the extra volume and expect son-in-law to be traveling together and share for now.

• Phone mount (wife refuses to use car play or android auto)

• rear hatch liner (dogs)

 

LoL, yeah it’s a decent pump for a back up. I have a co2 tank as primary and this as a back up. Works good. Ran a test and it pumps 4 tires from 15psi to 33/34psi at 2.5mins. Not bad for $100

 

#10-Basic winch. Check out the Badlands "Apex" at Harbor Freight. Rated at 12,000 lb. $300 for a cabled winch, $600 for the synthetic rope. Matt's Off-Road recovery in Utah uses this winch. His job is to rescue stranded off-roaders. If this winch works for him, it is way more winch than you will need. But the price is right. Has both, a remote and a cable/wire set-up. If the battery dies, hook up the cable.

I have one and it works great.

 

Tell me about your wheels. Powder coated, painted or plastidoped. Trail model wheels?

 

Those are the stock wheels it came with.

Same pattern as the OR/ORP (I think) wheels. Have a nice charcoal color powder coat on them.
