Hi 4Runner family! I am happy to have found this forum.

    I have a 2018 4runner trd off road premium with 71k miles.

I need to figure out exactly what to get to replace the shocks front and back, but I can't seem to get a clear idea of exactly what I need to get. One guy says this, one dealership says that, website recommends just the shocks and another recommends getting some other parts and I can't get much clarity on it.

I would like to get the Billstien 5100s but they are backordered on 4wheelparts and I spent a bunch of time on the phone with them trying to locate an order that said it was at the store and it wasn't. Trying times with the suppy chain issues right now.

Could you recommend the part numbers front and rear for shocks? and what about extra parts that would need to be replace like boots or sleeves or anything else that might come up.

    Much gratitude!

Just a suggestion, and I don't know about available stock, as I haven't checked lately, but look into Eibach Pro Truck Sport shocks. Many (myself included) run these vs Bilstein, and are very satisfied.

If all you want to do is replace the struts/shocks, that's all you need to order. As with 5100s, you can run the front struts at stock height, or adjust for levelling.

What are you looking for the shocks to do? Is it just to replace worn shocks? If so, keep an eye in the for sale section of this site. Whole sets with very little mileage come up frequent for cheap.

I had the same problem a few months ago trying to source my Eibach Pro lift. I ended up getting it Amazon. Same price as the local vendors, and I had it at my door in a week. As much as I prefer to buy from smaller shops, EVERYONE was 6-10 weeks out on them at the time.

If you’re looking to go full lift I’d try this: if you just want to replace shocks but not coils then you could go this route: I’ve had really good experiences with @toyteclifts and so has my brother on his Tacoma. Good luck!

That price on the toytec is hard to beat. But it also looks like they're on backorder. I also wonder what the OP plans on doing. Is he staying at stock ride height or looking for a cheap lift. OP - If you're not offroading and just want stiffer shocks then bilstein 5100's are perfect as they're stiffer than OEM. If you want a slight lift, then go with 5100's and a cornfed spacer in the rear. Simple, affordable, and you should be able to find both in stock easily.

As far as the exact parts, just shop around on different sites. I got mine on Amazon, typed in my vehicle info and the match was perfect. the box comes with everything you need. Then you have to just deal with your install.

I double checked the toytec site and the bilsteins are in stock it’s the HD toytec coils and their aluma series shocks that are on back order. But your right we still don’t know the OP’s full intentions with his build
