They’ve built the perfect slick rock crawler thing.

In slow mo it sounds like it’s summoning Satan.

This was my observation when trying out all the modes on my new 4Runner, 4 lo flat land 3 mph. I’m telling myself that is to fast for crawling, and that was and is on stock tires. Add taller tires, and that will increase your crawl speed.
So then I went to crawl control, my crawl speed was 1 mph.
I took vehicle down a steep decline both modes in first gear no brakes 4 lo 1st gear a little bit of a runaway.

4 lo 1st gear crawl speed lowest crawl setting, thought would be some lockup skidding, none, very controlled

    Must say I was impressed.

So the crawl ratio on our 4r not all that great, but crawl control does help.

Ok so let’s figure our crawl ratio. 1st gear ratio x transfer case low ratio x axle gear ratio =???

I need to dig for these spec’s

    1st gear. 3.52
    Transfer lo. 2.56
    Diff. Ratio. 3.73

    Crawl ratio 33.61

    Dismal

Not sure how the torque converter equates into this.

So with this high crawl ratio, and “abs” being disabled in 4 low on steep decent, you must be in good control of the fat pedal.

    Just saying
