XREAS suspension

    So I'm guessing I'm not the only one.

    I have a 2013 4Runner that needs Shocks and Struts. It has the XREAS suspension where the rear shocks "talk" to the front struts.

    I believe there is no third party, aftermarket supplier for this system. Great system but very proprietary.

    Do I go to standard, or back to the "stealership" for OEM?

    I will take any and all suggestions.

    Its XREAS.

    Any aftermarket suspension will do and you can dump the XREAS.

    Unless you really want it then pay then dealer.

    Do you have any leaks on them needing to replace? How many miles on them?

    Aftermarket has so many good options including rebuildable options.

    There are ride comfort adjustable options as well. Eg - King, Elka, Redflo, OME BP51, Fox with adjusters.

    120,000 miles and yes, they are leaking. I was thinking Bilstein 5100's but I'm not sure what to order in terms of a conversion kit. I know the lines need plugging.

    So, I was thinking Bilstein 5100's. Does anyone have experience changing over to standard?

    Is there a conversion kit to plug up the unused hydraulic lines?

    I have 5100s on my 2019 Limited. There's no way to connect the hydraulic lines.

    From my experience with completely removing XREAS and replacing with Toytec Aluma Boss (suspension, lines and valves) once you disconnect from the union fitting it will automatically shut the line from spilling out. So there's no need to need to plug anything. From there on, removing them is the same as any other 4Runner just with a hydraulic line attached to the shock. The rest of the system is hydraulic line running from driver front wheel to the passenger rear wheel and front passenger wheel to rear driver wheel, basically crossed like an X which you can leave if you dont want to do the extra work and remove it. In the middle of each line is what I believe is a valve diverting pressure to the opposite side of the truck. There are no suspension alternative to use with the XREAS system besides the same XREAS suspension and absolutely no electronics attached. It really isnt hard to remove the rest of the system, you could cut it into pieces but would become messy with hydraulic fluid still in the lines. It took myself an hour removing 20+ feet of hydraulic line, few 10mm bolts and clips is all thats holding it onto the frame.

    With that said, if anyones interested I still have my XREAS shocks with coils (front still assembled) and UCA for sale with 900 miles before removing it for Toytec and JBA.
