I came a cross a 2004 4runner sr5 V8 with 185000 miles. It has a clean title and about 8 previous owners according to the car fax as well as being a lease car when new. Runs and drives okay but 2wd for $6700. I do not plan on offroading since I just want a temporary car for a year or so until I decide to purchase a new 4runner or tacoma but prices are just too high right now. It's decent with scratches and dings here and there not the best but mileage just seems too high and maintenance is unknown since he's owned it for a year only. Has 3rd row seat. Dvd entertainment system. No torn seats radio does not work but all the electrical does but slow haha. It does need a good tuneup and brakes 100% but is it worth the risk of having major failure since maintenance is not known. Surface rust underneath only. Not sure about the timing belt. The pictures are from a local dealer who's selling this now.

Not too sure about this one. Current owner is selling after only a year and has had 8 owners?
I would probably pass on it.

    lets see...
    cons:
    - expensive for a temp car
    - 2wd (will affect resale value down the road)
    - 8 owners - so resold each 2 years on average. I would be careful with how much maintenance this vehicle actually got
    - no frame pics and these are not exactly stainless steel; i would be surprised if any of the owners ever rustproofed it
    pros:
    - it's a toyota

conclusion: for a year, you are better off with an older Camry/corolla and save some $ for the downpayment.

I would pass. Too many if's. For 1 year, as canadian says, find yourself a corolla or camry. Will be much cheaper in the long run.

There's zero reason to buy that for a temp car. Find something with better mileage and put the savings towards your next vehicle purchase.
