I saw this post while doing research before going out and buying my new 4runner, and for some reason it stuck with me (probably because very few people actually go out and go wheeling in a brand new vehicle).
Since I am in AZ, and we have very few mud holes, I decided to do the next best thing and go rock crawling. Here is a screen capture, where you can still see the dealer tags on the back.

It was 112* outside, I had 7 people in the vehicle, and I was super impressed with how well the vehicle did!
Here are a couple more photos from the day

Just got my 2016 Trail 5 days ago, but with recent mods cant take it in mud yet and it is the rainy season down here so all our trails require a 10in lift to get through, which some have on thier trucks:crazy:

But i cant wait to take it mudding, and have a bunch of pics.:mudding:

    I know the feeling,

Live in Asheville and we have loads of gated roads, I have a suspicion as to why but still. It stinks...

It's an ARB Safari snorkel (SS170HF) & a South African cyclonic pre-cleaner head. I had my doubts at 1st but anything bigger than 4-5 mircons is centrifugally spun out of the air stream. Dust from roads, cottonwood fluff, insects, rain, snow, etc. The main AFe filter takes care of anything else.
Only the cleanest air possible for my concurrently installed type 2 supercharger. :burnrubber:

So can I see a pic of how you mounted the basket to your factory cross bars?
Are you using anything fancy mounting the recovery aids?

    Looks great up there BTW!

Just used the standard mounts that came with the basket. Also not using anything fancy for securing the traction mats unless you consider bungee cords fancy.

Took my toy out to the desert this weekend and played a little. Time for some sliders after damaging the right step on a large rock.

Went wheeling a couple times this last week. Once in San Diego after the rain we had and another in Big Bear today. Moderate exploring in Bear due to conditions and being the lone vehicle.

Went to Joshua tree over the weekend with my wife... We did the Geology Loop and Old Dale Road from inside the park to Hwy 62. The silver 4runner trail is mine. At one of our stops we saw a TRD Pro. The other photo of the road is a shot I took of thousands of caterpillars crossing the road.Screen Shot 2017-04-04 at 3.52.21 PM.jpgIMG_1820.jpgScreen Shot 2017-04-04 at 3.51.01 PM.jpgIMG_1835.jpgIMG_2322.jpg

Overland Noob, I was also in Joshua Tree that weekend off of Old Dale Road and Gold Crown Road with two other 5th gens (white and silver SR5's). We visited a bunch of mines around Virginia Dale Mine, OK mine, Supply Mine and a few others. Thanks for the tip BTW. Here's a few pics of our trip:

Wow looks like you all had some fun. Great Pics! Let me know if you get out here again and maybe I can tag along? Did you go all the way over the top to Hwy 62 or did you turn around and go back into the park?

Sure, will let you know the next time we are up that way. It may be next Fall 'cuz as you know things are heating up already.

Since most of the mines we wanted to see were in the northern part, we entered the park at the 62. My buddies exited to the south at Cottonwood cuz they were staying the night; I exited back up at 62 and went home since I had my family with me.
