They were filming a commercial in........you got it, Santa Cruz.

It's ugly. I wasn't impressed, although I didn't expect to be. Reminded me of a Subaru Baja but a tiny bit bigger. This would be for someone looking for a smaller Honda Ridgeline. Same category as the Ford Maverick, although the Maverick will probably blow it out of the water in sales.

The one I saw was a lunar rock looking color, but a bit more green to it.

Pinstripes, lots of em. Plus a couple dents.
I kinda like it but would take the Ford over the Hyundai.

that front end is ugly and the fog lights look like total crap.
reminds me about a hamster with its mouth full, but hamsters are cute.
    the rear end looks decent.
i am obviously not the intended target for this vehicle, and after the BS Hyundai pulled with their warranties for the engines burning down houses, i will stay away for a very very long time. They started the recall in 2015 and its still ongoing...google Hyundai catching fire.
Taco, Colorado, Maverick/Ranger - plenty of options.
Also, like my woman says, we dont pussy trucks in our family

There seems to be a mad race to the bottom when it comes to ugly front ends. I'm not a fan of the front end of the current 4Runner - but after seeing the Chevy / GMC, the Bronco, the upcoming Tundra and this thing...

Hey, it’s ok. As long as you park it outside. What a mess.

    https://www.consumerreports.org/car-recalls-defects/more-recalls-for-hyundai-kia-vehicles-fire-risk/

    Consumer Reports, January 11, 2021:

“Hyundai added an additional 471,000 Tucson SUVs to an existing recall related to vehicle fires, and warned owners to park their cars outside and away from structures until repairs can be made.”

Ford had the same kind of issue ultimately telling their customers to park outside after a few homes burned down not to mention their Exploder rollover debacle. I would never by from either.

Subaru tried this concept a couple times and neither sold very well. I would take a Subaru over anything made in Korea all day long. Kinda like the color though.

I do think the Maverick will do well. It at least looks like a truck.

Chevy El Camino and Ford Ranchero back in the day were cool, but ultimately discontinued. A car with a pickup bed has very limited appeal, both in population and in years. Or at least, it used to be that way. I may be too old-school.

Plus, what did the name 'Maverick' mean when it first came out (as a Ford)? It was a sporty, and in some cases, high-ish performance CAR. With this model? Nothing similar.

Buy a taco and call it a day. Can’t get any better in terms of reliability and resale value.

Ford came out with the Maverick in 1970 to compete with Datsun and Toyota, and the Chevy Nova and Dodge Dart. It was produced for about 7 years and sold pretty successfully. My sister had one for her first car. It had no power steering and no glove box. It’s engine sounded awful and I thought it was a POS. Even by 1970s standards.

When I was young, my Mother had a brand new 1973 Chevy Nova - two door with a 350 V8. It was the first car we had with air conditioning! It was Avocado Green (Big deal back then). What a great and reliable car that was.

There’s a guys that lives in my apartment complex with a Ford maverick, I feel like asking why he would even get it?

it has a turn dial gear selector for the trans and the infotainment screen looks to be about 10” big but everything else is so basic

Is it based on the Explorer? I work for state government and my assigned vehicle has the same features, which is unusual because fleet vehicles are usually severely stripped down and have zero modern amenities.

Maybe features and tech wise but body size I think it’s smaller all around than the explorer

It is a pretty looking little truck wannabe. Honda Ridgeline will be having a lot of competition now, Ford is also in this game

I thought it was a real taco. I'm hungry. I want to eat it.
