Anyone want to help me out fixing my head gasket? Looking to learn more about my engine and how to repair before embarking on a 3-4 year road trip

Checking back in. We're moving back home to Ohio after 5 years in California. Should be boots on the ground near Mansfield circa Aug 1 2021.

Both my wife and I have 5th gens.

I plan on getting a fresh Delorme Gazeteer and reaquainting myself with all the eastern abandoned roads buried deep in the recesses of my brain.

Always up for traveling buddies...

 

I'll be able to be part of the club soon. Just got the confirmation on our 2021 TRD Pro. It's being build Wednesday, so should have it in a couple of months. NE Ohio here, Canton area.

This thread has been DOA for a while. I was sub'd to it just in case anyone posted up. It would be nice to do a get together.... I've participated in a few Ohio get togethers on Tacoma World and those were always fun times...

Depending on your interest I have some sporty dirt road / mild off road loops I enjoy running in eastern Ohio - Knox, Coshocton, Holmes, nearby....

 

Hooked up with the Wisconsin boys last spring.... Cruised some of the TWAT. Didn't know anybody from a bucket of paint, and had a blast.

Clueless on where to wheel, anything you put together would be much appreciated. Schedule is wide open - retired.

 

Ok I'll get something coordinated. I'm off weekends. Let's get through the winter and once a little of the goop is dried up I'll post here and reach out to you as well.

Do you enjoy camping? I can even route an overnighter if you want (no homo!)...

We pull a pop up when we overnight. I'll drop it to stake our claim or haul it.

Was actually going to ask some members if any of you had any recommendations for shops that will do a lift. I know there is a number around but would rather see if any of the members here had any good/bad experiences with local shops.

+2 on NEO. Roman will get the job done. Steve's Auto in the Falls is also a good shop. Get lifted and let's hook up and wheel.

 

Dude yes. I'm about it. Looking to get it done within the next 4-6 months. Was actually going to ask next where some good spots are to get a good idea of its capabilities. I frequently go to PA and VA to fish and that's where I spend most of my time off the road. I like to spend 2 or 3 days out on the trail.

 

Keep your eye on this thread, some folk(s) trying to get a meet up and possibly an over nighter on the books. We've been over to Allegheny National Forest a

couple of times for an overnight and day trip. Several of us are close enough to at least get together and tell lies and maybe figure out a place to head off to.

 

Absolutely! Now that I found it I'll keep a close eye on it. Have been to Allegheny a few times and is a good time for sure.

 

What I will probably do is put together a Saturday half-day trip, we can meet for breakfast somewhere south of Canton thereabouts and do a meet and greet. That way we aren't jumping right into an overnight in case there are conflicting personalities. Then we can spend that half day on some fun dirt roads I like to run in Holmes, Coshocton, Knox Counties. There are a few abandoned roads I can throw in that are passable, probably at least one really good river crossing and a few creek crossings, and at least a couple legit off road sections that I probably won't even try (because I know how bad they are!).

These are from that route, some date back a few years.... I can't promise all this stuff is still accessible as I've been out of state for 6 years and came back in late 2021; but I have taken a few laps on my enduro and based on those rides I think a good bit of this should be doable. I will likely figure a date and then do a pre-run a week before to make sure it's good to go and minimize backtracking.

There is a good thread on TW in regionals about Ohio offroading, I believe it is a sticky, and there are a few active dudes on thee, too, if you guys wanted to check that out. I did a really good ride last winter with a some guys from there down near Tar Hollow.

 

That looks fun as hell! Im in NE Ohio to. I would love to join in and will be keeping an eye here. I have a TRD Pro Tundra but my wife just got a ORP 4R so I’d have to persuade her to let me take it. I’ll tell her I’ll be gentle.
