this guy made the towing contest in the end. What nonsense! Obviously the Bronco has a stupid Turbo which gives it more torque. Ask this guy why he bought the 4Runner and not the Bronco.

Yeah that has been out a while. I was surprised how bad the traction control was on the bronco.

Exactly, click bait, TFL does it, Scotty does it, almost all do it. What I like about this guy though (driving sports) is that he takes many SUV on some form of offroad testing. Also, put 35 inch on a 4runner, change gear ratio, add a supercharger and then we have apples to apples. Side of reliability, which we know who is the winner... I'd like to see a stock Rubicon on 35 inch tires vs Bronco.

Honestly I was surprised by how the Bronco couldn’t do basic things without the lockers (7:46 into the video). Their a-trac system needs some modifications for sure. The 4Runner could have been pushed a little harder but did almost everything with ease. Then he admits he was hitting up against a rock for the 4Runner. The video just solidifies the good choice I made with going with a 4Runner.

Basically, he faults Toyota for not having a front facing camera so he could have seen the tree root, stump, rock that he got hung up on. Good, I hope Toyota listens.

There's many videos of his what he shows how good the 4Runner is and talks a few times about why he bought one.

Ford engineers should have been embarrassed by this comparison. Their traction control system is just terrible.
If you watch his reviews of the Ranger and Maverick (which he bought) they have the same issue of terrible traction control.

I have no issue with whatever he said, I just have problem with this guy comparing the towing of the two vehicles at the end of the video. A V6 Vs. Turbo. I still believe that 4Runner could pull the Bronco out. The guy just didn't try enough. He gave up.

I hear you, it looks that way. But to be fair we don't know what got left out in editing or perhaps his time had run out and he needed to get that Bronco back to the owner.

I thought the towing test was not to actually test towing, but recovery. A good, but flawed idea that in retrospect should have gone into the bin during final edit.

A humorous thing to me is that he bought land and built his own test track. He used his 4Runner as template for the harder section. So far, everything else he has tried has either failed miserably or struggled to finish.

I want to add one more thing. The 4Runner is deliberately kept ancient. Toyota is not a rookie that is not capable of making a fancy 4Runner. They can make such a high tech 4Runner that these Fords, Jeeps and Land Rovers will be left in the dust. But they won't. No comromise on 4Runner's durability and reliability. But alas, Toyota also got forced into the game of stupid things like Turbos, more gears and more electronics. 5th gen 4Runner is the last gen for me. RIP 4Runner :(
I will drive my boy for as long as I am alive and as long as I can afford gas. If gas gets to $10/gallon then I will park my boy and only drive it once in a while. But I will never sell it.

Agreed. People who think Toyota "can't" make a faster, or more capable, or more gadgeted vehicle aren't using common sense. Toyota is arguably one of the three biggest manufacturers of vehicles. They have billions of dollars at their disposal, just like the others. For decades, they have made their nut on quality, and that's their first objective.

Ford made the popular Bronco years ago, and is reviving the name in hopes it will help sell their new idea of the Bronco. But so far, the reports of quality problems are numerous, and to hear it from people on here, Ford quality in general isn't the best.

Automakers have to decide where to invest their R&D budgets. Thankfully, Toyota doesn't let gimmickry trump their first objective.
