Agreed! It's nice to try to get through things without using recovery equipment, but there's a huge fucking tree right in front of him!

Did you see the video where a guy tipped a Tacoma and, instead of trying to right it, they dragged it out on it's side with a full size?

I may not be the most knowledgeable or experienced, but I tend to be conservative with what I attempt and ask questions when I'm around more experienced off-roaders. I sure hope I never do anything to wind up in a video like that!

Yep. The Taco “salvage” was brutal.

We can right it, but let’s drag it instead. Just as brutal where the guy rips the entire ass end out of the Taco trying to free it.

So true. Just yesterday we lost a 55yo soul who was out for a putt on his scooter, when a drunk crossed the lines and hit him head on. Senseless.

Will this affect the price of a Dobi suspension? Looks to be a company truck with the graphics on the side.

Such a shame when a reckless person's decision hurts others. It makes me think about the stupid shit I did when I was younger and thank god I never hurt anyone.

My accident, when I was a sleep on an early sunny 5:30 Sunday morning. I never park my car outside. I only did it once, parked my Sequoia in front of the entrance of my house. We sleep on the other side on the back; we where woken up by the doorbell; I opened the door an a police officer in front & my Sequoia turned in to a 4R, in shambles. A neighbor Kid, drunk up his as* hit my parked Sequoia in the rear and threw it 20 yards into my oleanders. The kid ended up in the ER, significantly hurt. Beer cans & liquor bottles in his 4R.

Looking at the 4R first I figured the Sequoia would be messed up much worse than it is.

Sequoia 28K miles, frame bend, they tried to fix it two times, never drove like before; sold it and lost 18K on the second hand value because of the accident. My spouse was furious I didn't sue the family.

Once again reminds me that I have no interest in this kind of "wheeling". I sort of get the novelty of it, but it just doesnt do anything for me. I see way too many accidents like these and it all seems so silly.

I've done it, and I've done it at that park. I'm pretty sure that's Barnwell Mountain in Gilmer, TX based on how the terrain looks.

However, you make a good point, but I'll adjust it slightly to say that when you go, ride with others. We have our "overland" vehicles, and then our "wheeling" ones. I don't have the garage space or desire to pull a trailer with a rig on it, but a few friends do. I've honestly never had more fun than beating on a old rig. Bump a tree? Oh well, just keep them hands in the vehicle.

That said, rollovers are no joking matter, even in a beater. We had a friend roll another friend's truck and our main concern was the person, he was ok. Then, we worked on the Tacoma for 4 hours and drove it off. Unbelievable, other than some remodeling the ground did, with 240k miles on the clock we still wheel it, same engine, everything....these things are built tough!

Too many people count on the capability of the vehicle & not their brain. It's not only in off-roading, look at cars going 150 Mph & more on Freeways, other drivers looking in their mirrors to change lanes miss calculate the speed of the on coming car, and disaster strikes. Freeways in the US are not the German Autobahn where drivers are used to high speed driving.

    Totally agree.

Also, I view offroad parks as the same as shooting ranges. It's a safe and smart idea to learn the capability of your vehicle before going off to Colorado and hop on Black Bear (like we discussed here before). So they do have a function, but a huge understated part of all off-roading is actually peer pressure. You need to learn to ignore that garbage and decide if YOU feel comfortable doing it. Who cares what the others say, they aren't risking anything by telling you to send it.
