I think the Evo replaced the VR series winches. Pretty sure the Evos are also made in China. Imagine Warn will want to send me one of those.

Hmmm.. Now I'm a bit concerned. I went VR EVO10-S because of Warn's warranty. I hope I don't run into issues as well. I've used it for 3 recoveries and a handful of other things. So far, so good.

I hope your problem is an easy fix!

Called Warn just now they referred me to the local service center. Talked to those guys, they said it would normally be a 1 week turn around but their guy is out hunting for a week. Said it will take 2 weeks at most and they do still repair VR winches. Normal warranty is 7 years so no issues there.

Will see what shipping is. I removed the steel cable to save weight. There is 1 tiny screw with about 3 threads holding it to the drum.

Super disappointing to hear about that failure. I just mounted up a VR10 myself (synthetic line).

If the EVO series is a newer version of the VR, we might be ok. Mine has been good so far.

Gotta check, I dont even know if mine was Vr evo or just VR. Does your say evo somewhere on the unit itself?

Agreed @DRobs . I try to run mine periodically when I remember to. Maybe I will set a reminder in my calendar 2 run it once a month.

I had an oh crap moment after paying $70 to ship that winch. Maybe it's the truck battery? I don't think so, the new Badlands winch works just fine. Hooked it up to a tree and pulled all the line out / re-tensioned the rope on the drum.

Bummer! Anyone say if they'll contact you about it's state of disrepair, or are you left waiting for a return shipping notification? Just curious.

I bought my ARB boards for $200 a while ago, and as much as I’ve used them I’m glad I didn’t cheap out. They’ve gotten me out of bad spots, and I can’t imagine getting stranded because my $70 boards broke the first time I go to use them.

    Some videos for your review:

This kid in Australia does a decent review of X-Bull Traction Boards. His review in my opinion is a better review than the one Ronny Dahl does.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkI2qPsa96I

Here's Ronny's review. Note he rejects traction boards that are still fully functional.
That just seems stupid to me.

Good mud test of multiple brands of traction boards

Good how to video from Maxtrax - don't spin your tires.

Video ones boards lesser expensive boards did pretty darn well considering they're a fourth of the cost of Maxtrax ll's.

True! I would consider a set if I didn't have the Maxsas already
