I am wanting to purchase a white TRD pro. Would like the sliding cargo deck, but not a deal breaker.

I have been calling all my local dealers and most say they can’t order one. Some say it could be a 3month wait and even then they aren’t sure they’ll get one. Not too sure what to do. I know these are crazy times, but I’m seeing a decent amount of the lime ones popping up.

It’s gonna take work on your part.

They can’t order one for you, just reserve one they might get eventually.

    Could be many many months.

If you’re ready to cough up $10k over MSRP you might be able to snatch one the day it hits the lot.

There’s a thread here listing the dealers who are and are not marking up.

Other than that - make lots of calls, start a spreadsheet …and prepare to put a deposit to get your name on a waiting list and….wait.

    Good luck!

Since you haven't place the order here's few little point to think about.

    • Is it worth spending extra for a TRD Pro to have regular color?
    • Will white paint last long or reported have paint problems?
    • Is it worth to spend extra for TRD Pro anyways? (extra msrp + market adjustment $$ for the suspension, wheels, skid)

These are just few points to think. Not saying it should..

I would like the upgraded suspension. Also, I think only the trd pro comes with the birds eye view cameras correct? Definitely want the trd wheels/tires/grill/skid plate just for the looks.

for 2022 birds eye view camera is a very valid point. Me personally would pick TRD Pro for that reason.

TRD Wheels - Looks so damn good but lack in functionality for bugger tires
Tires - Not worth, I changed them after few miles
TRD Skid - I prefer after market with maintenance cutout because Toyota dealership screw on the stock skid on my TRD ORP. It could be same for my TRD Pro skid as well
Grill - I'm not really someone who care about the grill. I still have chrome grill on my Limited which most hates.

My final - Go for a TRD Pro for the birds eye view camera.

(I only have front camera with aftermarket parts on my TRD ORP & TRD Pro. No 360 view. I wish I have.)

Ive actually never owned a vehicle with any camera, but my wife will primarily be driving the 4Runner. I wouldn’t say she’s the absolute best driver out there lol, so I think the birds eye camera would be great for her, and not to mention how useful it’ll be off road

    - You can add the birds eye camera with the premium plus package
    - You can add the wheels/tires/grill/skid plate/rack/upgrade suspension and still have $$$. Not to mention that you can get arguably better aftermarket components (for example, the Pro rack is kind of useless, and a lot of people reportedly hate the drone of the TRD exhaust)
    - Why do you want the fox suspension? Have you looked into KDSS? Might be worth trying to test drive both if you can find them

That being said, I can understand those that just want to buy something and keep it stock. A TRD off-road will be much easier for your dealer to find though

I will try to take a pic next time. I have zero visibility going over obstacle uphill especially because I'm a small guy 5' 5". I could only see the sky. For both camera I have put thin tape on the display to mark my tire line that help me to guide my tires.

    Other pro features not mentioned:
    • Dual zone climate control
    • 15 speaker JBL stereo.
I'm in the "want a pro" category. Something I think folks miss when they suggest adding the stuff on yourself/later - is having to cough up the money to do so.
Totally understand the argument of paying interest on that financed amount, but I know myself - and I will never spend thousands to upgrade/fix up my car.
I will, however, pay a bit more per month in financing to have it done already.

I’ve had a few quotes on off road premiums with the trd wheels/skid/etc and they usually end up being not far off from msrp of a pro. Now finding a pro for msrp is also going to be difficult. I’ll most likely get a pro, get some decent sliders on it, and eventually change the roof rack and maybe a roof tent and call it done. I like a mostly factory look. Nothing worse than the Jeep crowd that looks like they bought every accessory in the local autozone and applied it to their wrangler lol.

Never had dual zone climate either and think that will be a game changer! Wife is always too cold or too hot lol

I'm not so sure about being able to add the camera(s). I dont see that on the Toyota site when I build a Pro. There is no "premium plus package"

Dual zone climate control - It is not like you can set it to 70'F and forget.
I have to keep changing the temp according to outside tem. Eg - When outside temp is 50ish I have to set it to 74 or something to have a comfortable interior temp.
Sometime the A/C is on when outside temp it cold. I manually turn off.
Fresh / Recycle mode is utter dumb. It switches to fresh mode sometimes driving in traffic getting all the fumes inside. I have to switch to recycle mode quickly.

15 speaker JBL stereo - Is good to have but wish the sub has enough power to give good bass. But I agree its better than non JBL.

Sorry I'm from Canada and I forget that we are the only ones that get Dual Zone climate on our TRD Off Roads haha.

The cameras come standard on the 2022 TRD Pros, but in the US you can add them to the TRD Off Road trim. For example look at this package:

They give us the MTM cameras standard on our TRD off roads too in case we get maple syrup all over the windows. Really helps when watching out for pesky beavers out on the trail ;)

If Toyota knows about the white issue, do you think all the new 2022’s will have the issue solved?

Where are you located? (NM, dumb question...thought this was on the 5th Gen board) Keep in mind that the packages that show up on the "build" tool on the Toyota website are keyed to what is in inventory or in transit to dealerships near you based on whatever zip code you enter. You can get most of what you are looking for in a TRD Offroad Premium (ORP) with the Multi Terrain Monitor package (birds eye camera). In Gulf States Toyota territory (TX, AR, OK, LA, or MS), you can't get the KDSS suspension without ordering it, and they are not going to be able to take orders for it until at least November or December, and maybe not even then. The tires/wheels, and skids are things you can probably get cheaper than the 5-15k over MSRP markup you are going to pay pretty much anywhere for a PRO right now. So you may want to consider getting the ORP and upgrading instead of chasing a PRO and paying the markup.

This is interesting to me. I had the sales manager at Toyota of Dallas, as well as at least one other dealership (can’t remember at this point), tell me they couldn’t order it with KDSS, that it isn’t available at all. I searched all over the state for a new or used model with KDSS for months before I ordered it from out of state. It worked out though, because I got a discount ($2k below msrp) going through a small town dealer, and we made a road trip out of the return trip.

I requested mine with KDSS as well, the dealership didn’t say anything about that, but I was told due to the chip shortage I couldn’t get the rear slide out, but told them I wanted it anyways.

Yeah every single one I see posted from dealers on like cars.com/auto trader/etc are all spoken for. It’s pretty annoying they even post them.

I’m starting to think it’s automated somehow, even on the dealer websites. I’ve had several say things like “we’re trying to get it taken down”.

i believe it. I think the only option is to place an order and hope the dealer has allocation for one. I’m going to a dealer today to just place an order.

This same scenario happened to me while I was on deployment this year. I ordered a ford transit in January and was told it’d take 3 months (was going to have my wife pick it up). Well 3 turned into 6, then that turned into “maybe by November”. Ended up just getting my deposit back and buying used. The used market is absolutely insane for 4Runners right now though. Plus I want the 2022 new features
