Guy in this 1998 Tacoma laughed when I told him I undercoated my 4Runner :D He said there is no rust in PNW. He said he has been street parking his Taco all these years. His Taco'a frame looked like brand new

I did Toyo AT3s (4) through Discount Tire, there is post on the deal on the site somewhere.
Short story, with trade in for tires with 8k miles, total was a little less than $650 out the door with a $40 credit left over.
Same size, load rating and weight as stock.

Have a couple thousand miles on them, great tires so far. Low noise, great ride, great wet traction. They are three peak rated so they should be good in the snow and ice but we have not had any of that yet.

Good choice! I have 285's in LT/C and they're pretty good in snow so far. The SL version has more siping, so yours should be very good in the snow.

Btw, lets see a picture! :D

I went to another Trail today, again, beautiful place, but a disappointment for 4-wheeling. These Trails don't deserve all terrain tires. I'm not buying all terrain tires anytime soon.

I would never blame folks who decide to buy a RAV4 Adventure or a Subaru Forester, because to be honest, they can do almost 90% of what the 4Runner can do. And let's not forget, you can always lift your Forrester and RAV4, and give them underbody protection. Those two little vehicles are pretty capable.

That thing is a scam. Better buy the cheapest basic Outback and improve it by aftermarket

True, I picked up a “97” F-250 power stroke from Washington back in 2006 70,000 miles. You could eat dinner off of the under carriage. 1 winter in Colorado Magnesium Chloride the under carriage was all surface rust.

Long Time Ko2 fan and was convinced to try an alternative on my last vehicle. Firestone Destination AT-2s. They feel as good off road as the more expensive Ko2s and actually do much better on-road. I always found the Ko2s to be a tad bit slippery in light rain, the Destination ATs have better wet-road traction. Noticeably less noise and better MPG, too.

I have KO2s right now and I look forward to replacing them with Firestone AT-2s within the year. They are one of the highest rated AT tires on tirerack, they seem perfect. My KO2’s have about 35,000 on them and they are getting loud, and the crappy wet traction is much worse.

I hear good things about them as well.

How often are you rotating them?

every 4,000 miles. I am pretty anal about taking care of my stuff. This is not an abnormal wear issue, it’s the fact that they are wearing down as they should and getting noisy. They are not great tires in wet, never mind once they wear down a bit after driving 35,000 miles on them. My local discount said I have maybe another year on them, I just don’t know if I want to wait that long.

It's just weird how different some people's experience is. I had 80% tread at 29K miles and mine were reasonably quiet. They're on a friend's Ranger now, as I upsized.

I do hear mixed things about wet traction. Mine were fine, but some folks hate them. I considered them a good all around tires. They weren't necessarily fantastic at anything, but they were pretty good at everything.

What load range? And, do you cross rotate, or just front to back?

I don't blame you for wanting to change early if you're not happy with them. I replaced my Dunlops at 1300 miles. :D

Let us know how you feel about the stock tires when it snows.:mudding:

The many negative comments that I saw about the stockers in rain and snow were the main reason I switched tires shortly after I bought my 4R. Learn from others experiences. I drive in the snow 5 mos. a year. My main concern is braking. Compared to a collision expense, tires are cheap.

Based on my experience, KO2s are excellent tires, thread lasts more than of the Duratracs. Duratracs are visibly better in mud and snow, and I think a bit better on ice (don't get as hard as the KO2s). I do not have a lot of experience with the Grapplers yet, but they seem comparable to KO2s regarding offroad traction. Duratracs are way louder than KO2s and Grapplers on asphalt, on the Ram Rebel they have a weird humming at 50-ish mph, and wear is normal, did that when new. If going offroad is a priority, go with Duratracks, otherwise, it is a toss IMO between Grapplers and KO2s. I think the KO2s have a better load range rating and hold more PSI than the Grapplers, at least compared to the ones I have on my 4runner.

Did you replace your rims with a different offset ones? That usually leads to cupping in them, so they need rotated more. Happened to me on the Cherokee I sold, rotated them every 10k. After that issue, rotating at 1-2k avoided the cupping. BTW, no suspension issues either...

Pinstripes, lots of em. Plus a couple dents.
Posted this before but I listed my Bridgestone Duelers on Facebook marketplace. Traded them to a guy for a Winchester 30/30 lever action rifle. The rifle was worth about $350.

You might see if their are any off road clubs or Toyota clubs on facebook for your area. That's where you'll find some good trails to take that do require AT or MT tires. Those roads you were on look like they have been graded.
