Its an 06 limited 4runner with 162k miles. no accidents, 2 owner, owned in only north carolina, and has 45 service records.
The runner already has a dobinsons lift and wheels and tires.
they are asking 16k which sounds absurd but I know the used car market is like that right now, and there is always room for negotiation.

give me your thoughts and opinions please.

also if anyone is selling a 4th gen 4runner in north carolina or the surrounding states that has decent mileage and good history contact me.

v6, and my intended use of the vehicle is just camping trips, some overlanding, hunting, fishing.

I wouldn’t get a limited then unless limited is different in 4th gen.

In my humble opinion, it's overpriced by at least 5 or 6 grand. But, like you said, the market is insane right now. If the frame is in good shape and it's worth 16 grand to you, then go for it, but I know it wouldn't be worth $16,000 to me.

For reference, I bought my 2007 SR5 mostly rust-free and similar mileage for $10,500 this summer and still felt like I overpaid but shrugged it off and blamed it on the crazy market.

I walked away from a 2011 limited for $18,000 a couple of years ago. Had -150k miles I think. Thought it was too much then for that many miles.

While the market is hot right now, it doesnt mean people are better able to pay the inflated prices. It might not be the best time to get in (at least at market prices). For a 15 year old vehicle-reliable or not- it’s just too much money. Also

Regarding the limited trim, with that age, I dont see that as a selling point. The dobs and tires might be a plus if they are fresh, but not sure if that makes it worth 16k.

Pre-chip shortage, these were 8 or 9k vehicles.

I agree with the pricing being on the high end of the spectrum..

    additional factors I'd consider:
-if it's been a southern truck all it's life, and not a beach truck (I've noticed northern vehicles creeping south)
-if it has the larger (sport) brakes, tho that can be upgraded if not
-wheels and tires, high end wheels/tires can cost thousands

    Good luck on your search!

Yea i agree with everyone on the price. This would be my second 4th gen because my other one was totaled by a jeep wrangler. I had an 07 limited and paid around 10k i believe with 120k miles. The market is insane rn for these but Im now in need of a car and a 4runner is the only option I truly want.

but does anyone think buying a 4th gen w 162k miles would be a problem if all maintenance was kept up with and multiple service records. Talking about engine wise and head gaskets.

As long as the frame is rust free then only you can decide if it is worth it.

Head gasket was 05 and earlier, and I think only crept into '06 if it was built in January or February before the revised HG came into play.

These are pretty high mileage engines.
