    It'll be fine.

50k and never washed the frame. It's all good.

Disclaimer: I don't live in a region that salts roads. I also don't go mudding anymore. Learned that lesson a long time ago.

It doesn't work for caked on mud, though. The only thing other than a pressure washer that has ever worked was parking in a river up to the rock sliders and letting the current do the work. But, not everyone has access to a gravel bottom river with swift current. :D

I learned as well. But, I keep doing it! Maybe my dad was right when I was a kid and he accused me of having brain damage. :anonymous:

None. Bone Stock. EXCEPT: Brushguard, tow hitch, both welded to the frame. It's good to have friends and a fully equipped garage!
They don't salt our roads here in South Central Oregon. They use crushed lava rock. A little hard on any coatings on the undercarriage, and the lowest level paint, but great grip, even on ice. In snow, even better.

    Take care, all!

To me, that phone mount is a view obstruction and liability. I certainly wouldn't want to explain to a Judge why I needed to have it there.
    YMMV
I keep my phone in my pocket, as to reduce my liability.

Just got my boy from Line-X. That is how the frame looks after getting sprayed.

Congrats. Looks like they did a good job. Do they recommend you return for a repeat at some point in the future ?

I went on their website to try to understand what the underbody coating is. Does it function more like a paint, like bedliner, or is it oily like woolwax/fluid film?

Just a note for all you current (and former) mudders out there: When you wash the mud, crud, and corruption, off your undercarriage, make absolutely certain the breathers on the differentials are totally free and clear. They get clogged up, and the seals on the axles, at least the rear axle, will start leaking. Now, you not only need new axle seals, but new brake shoes. Maybe get the drums turned while you're at it.

It's a very easy task, really. The breather just unscrews, and you can blow air through it to ensure it's clear. Best idea, IMHO, is to put an extension on the breather, and have it sticking out somewhere well above the "mud line". That way, chances are vastly against it getting clogged up. There are kits out there to put breather extensions in, or you can buy the parts yourself. Most hardware stores have everything you need. Two fittings and a plastic tube to go between them. Boom, done. Simple, easy, painless. Maybe a couple of hose clamps to hold the tube in place.

    Just thought I'd mention it.

You are making me feel guilty. Ive kinda been reading about the breathers, but havent done anything with them yet.

I havent submerged my 4runner but I surely have gotten it soaked down in sandy mud. I’m pretty particular about hosing it off after playtime, but havent really inspected those breathers afterward. And I dont even know where the locker breather is, and why it has one separate from the diff.

Went out wheeling in the mud when I first got the 4 runner, a hour and a half later I was able to get all the mud off the undercarriage hosing, wiping and lightly brushing. Went to do a breather mod the next weekend and was aghast when I opened the hood. WTF, the entire engine and engine compartment was coated in dried hard mud. The hood liner sucks to get clean as the material abrades very easily when wet.

Wow! Did your engine splash guards (in the wheel well get torn off? I get some mud on the bottom part of the headers and some of the lower parts of the radiator/hoses, and even a bit on the lower pulleys, but never all the way up to the hood liner, lol.

I have the Rad Rubber guards but I think it was just too much speed used to ensure success with unknown depth holes.
Some of the spots near my house have the red clay mud, you can't hose it off as it leaves a film residue. It almost make you not want to go out after it rains as the clean up really sucks. I need to find a pole brush with a small head that will attach to the hose. Maybe a spray wax on the under carriage would help?
