at a loss at this point. have a 2018 orp with dobinsons twin tubes, spc upper control arms, falcon wild peaks, prinsu alpha tent, slim line bumper and winch. I've had everything on my 4runner like a week after I got it a little over a year ago. drove it all over the place last summer. took it out to Utah this past June didn't do anything that crazy out there. with in the past couple of weeks I get a wheel shake while braking from 60-50 and slight vibration at all speeds some worse than others. so trying to narrow things down I've done pads and rotors all the way around same issue. got an alignment same issues. got tires road forced balanced and force mounted one tire same problem. and today my buddy let me borrow his wheels and tires of his tacoma and still nothing. I'm startling to think the valving might have crapped out in my struts and or springs are worn out bc I was getting pretty bad cupping on the rear tires. any one els run into this issue. need help please

"getting pretty bad cupping on the rear tires" How often do you rotate? And when you do is it front to back only or do you X them too? Testing with someone else's used tires is a less than reliable test(imo). Have you closely inspected all the front end components for wear? Just spit balling things I'd check. Good luck.

Rotate every 5k dealer does it went over ball joints tie rods checked wheel bearings. Noticing nose dives under breaking, full stop dive and rebound bounce. Squatting under acceleration.

Sounds like your suspension is shot. Cupping is a symptom. Nose dives and bouncing are symptoms. Probably bad shocks but maybe springs too if they are not correct for your application or are made from Chinesium.

@austincurley Do you know the mileage on your OE suspension components and on your Dobinsons components?

It's vary rare that worn out shocks/struts would cause a vibration in the wheel. They will cause your 4runner to “float” because they are no longer damping the oscillations of the coil springs. Your 4runner would be “bouncy”, but it would most likely not cause a vibration in the steering. The nose dives, squatting and rebound bounce would be signs of bad shocks and struts. This could also be springs that are not rated for your 4runner with its modifications (think to heavy), or with the struts/shocks they are paired with.

Vibration in the steering is usually a sign of brake pads building up on your rotors, but it sounds like you already addressed this. So we can rule out the braking system being the issue. I would look at ball joints and tie rods next. I know you said the dealer "checked" them, but a visual inspection doesn't really tell us if they are bad until they are toast. Its a PITA, but to properly inspect them, they need to be disconnected and checked. If they are stiff with minimal play they should be "good". If they flop all over the place, its time to replace them. You may also want to check/replace your upper and lower control arm bushings as well.

The tire cupping could be caused by any number of suspension components failing, like shock absorbers, struts, bushings and others components. I hope this info is helpful.

@austincurley I'm happy you figured it out. I believe SPC makes an upgrade for their ball joints now.

It's common for ball joints to go after a while off roading

I have a somewhat similar issue. At last oil change the dealer found one tire had a slight blem and that it would be ok. I just changed over to my winter and future all terrain tires on separate rims and no issue.
