Just happened to my 2018 and I'm pissed

Can't believe it happened so soon. Definitely going to let Toyota Corporate hear about this.

My drivers side fog light just went out.

I agree. in my experience driving Chevy's it was always component failures, and suspension issues. their engines were darn near bulletproof. I imagine our Toyotas will do much better.

I wouldn't baby the 4Runner at all. It's insulting :). It's meant to be an offroad vehicle and is one of the most, if not THE most durable vehicles to exist. Drive it like it was designed to be driven and keep up the maintenance. Only thing I'd be the slightest bit antsy about is the KDSS stuff.

All the cars are switching to stupid buttons and little electric thingies, I want to feel that thing for as long as I'm alive.

I live in New England where they use road salt like it's their job, so I figure the frame is probably the component I'd most likely be worried about long-term.

None. Bone Stock. EXCEPT: Brushguard, tow hitch, both welded to the frame. It's good to have friends and a fully equipped garage!
I rode motorcycles in Az for about 15 years. Had 3 accidents. Ran into a horse at 60 mph, little old lady pulled out in front of me and I got to take a short but exciting flight up and over her car, and some jerk-o&^ pulled into my lane and slammed his brakes on.
The horse took my left eye, as I was bouncing down the highway, yes, with a helmet on (really cool yellow stripe down one side now!), but he died at the scene. I won that one, IMHO.
The little old lady got me a nice metal rod in my right arm, and pins etc in my elbow. She paid dearly for the privilege of pulling out in front of me.
The jerk made a run for the border. Gee, everyone was really surprized. NOT. All he managed to do was break an ankle, so not that bad.

The little old lady was the last. I figured someone was telling me not to ride any more, aside from my ex-wife. I haven't, but I do miss it a lot, especially on the beautiful days we get up here. Not only days, but some awesome roads to ride around here.

    Oh well, have fun all!
    Pat☺

I went with kdss after watching this guy speaking good of KDSS, so if anything goes wrong with my kdss, this guy's to be blamed :)

What makes that different and better than the anti-rust spray?

Fluid film/Wool wax are oil based wax type stuff that coats and seeps. They do not work like a rubber coating that may trap in moisture.

The toyota dealership service guys told me if I keep using fluid film, they would not be able to replace my frame as it's keeping it too good.

It works very well if you reapply each winter in high salt areas I e had good luck with it. There a place that coats it for 99 bucks where I live I’m to old to crawl under there anymore lol

It works well if it is applied regularly and correctly.

You just have to keep working at it.

Honestly, I regret not being more aggressive over rust mitigation with my 2013, because mag chloride is a bitch.

Squirrels. Beady-eyed little bastids. Beware the squirrel. They eat 4runners like candy apparently.

But I saw a guy post that he wool waxed everything, and he said squirrels don’t like crawling around on greazy surfaces. Messes with their hair-do or something. He didnt say he was an expert in squirrel aversions, but he sounded like one.

I wool waxed my rig, and that is the only thing I think of when Im trying to rock myself to sleep when I worry about my wiring harness.

Rust will be the second killer, but if you pick wool wax as your coating, you’ll kill two birds with one stone.

edit: unless squirrels actually eat lanolin…then we’re screwed.

Break in oil change time, 1,100 miles on the odometer. Honda is next to Toyota lol. How fierce of rivals are they to each other? In all honesty, I like the Accord more than Camry :)

Just got my 2021 back had the wiring harness eaten by rodent most likely a rat there were 4 more in fir the same thing with 27 back ordered wiring harnesses I wish Toyota would stop using food (Soy) in the wiring. Required an engine tear down at 490 miles. This was pre fluid film, pre exterminator, ore spraying wires with rodent repellent I’ll report back of any more issues.

I am in denial that myself and all the gents on this post will have nothing go out on our T4R's...

I mean, we all need chariots to ride to Valhalla when our number gets called!
