    Hello all,

Just joined this forum. I recently saw that there is a pipe on top of the engine with no rubber hoses attached to it. I bought the car brand new in 2002. Maybe the mechanic that did valve cover gasket job 6 years ago forgot to put them back on .

I appreciate if someone can look at his or her truck and let me know .

    Thanks in advance.

Welcome OP!! Looks like a vacuum hose to me. Part should be 90999-92002. Hopefully someone else will confirm but the piece seems to be inexpensive and is probably an adjustable size part from factory! Cheers

Thanks for your reply. The truck seems to be working fine without them if actually they need to have connections. On the driver side it is obvious there is an capped off angled pipe next to it , on the other site it is not clear where it may need to connect to.

Hopefully, someone with the same model can verify if indeed this pipe needs connections.

My 02 had the same pipe, and was not needed, i believe it is for some sort of re-route, i forget what exactly.

Hello. It’s got to have a vacuum leak behind the plenum, small, but still. Just put the hoses and your 4runner will be run better.

Bought my 2002 SR5 4x4 new. I have NEVER taken it to the dealer. I just redid the top end of the engine, replacing all molded hoses with TOYOTA ones. I've been over the parts diagrams more than a few times.

That metal hose has NEVER had anything attached to it. There is no part listed for it that I found. It always has seemed odd to me all the way back from when I bought the car. Also, it is not connected into the manifold in any way.

I DO think I read somewhere it may be used for the SUPERCHARGER.

That plastic capped port farther back is also 100% factory.

That part number, when checked, fits no 2002.

I still can’t figure out this site, but I think I posted t2 pictures of what exactly what ahoss4runner needs.

What year car is this? It doesn't look like a 2002.

You are missing the big fat hose at the back of the engine that is in OP's pics. Look for the one with the white painted line on it where it goes in the bracket that you don't have. You don't have that setup. The metal hose is probably a holdover from your car's year to ours.

ahoss4runner needs nothing. His setup is fine.
