My '22 Trail arrives in 10 days.
Swapping to Falken Wildpeaks LT in stock size (including spare) , before it leaves the dealer.
I've read a number of posts re: aftermarket tires not fitting underneath.
Is that only an issue w a larger tire?
    Thanks.

Can’t imagine it being an issue with a stock size replacement. I went with much larger tires (285/70/17) all the way around (including spare) and it fits fine.

    enjoy your new T4R!

I have Falken Wildpeaks 285/70R17 SL in spare tire location.(Screen cap from my video)

With my own experience I can report BFG KO2 LT285/70R17 C and Falken Wildpeak P285/70R17 SL fit in spare tire location.

So realistically, the only size difference for an LT would maybe be a bit thicker sidewall?
Any idea what the steel spare weighs vs alloy wheel?

2021 Venture: I replaced my stock tires with a set of stock sized toyo at3 a few months ago. I found it rubbed on the passenger side front fender when turned full as I backed out of our sloped driveway. I searched through quite a few message threads but only found a few cases that indicated issues with stock sized tires rubbing and they weren't specific to any particular tire type. I suspect it is rare. I ended up pushing the fender liner forward (there are threads describing the procedure) and trimming the fender edge just a tad with an x-acto knife. Working just fine now.

For the most part the LT sizes would have a thicker sidewall, carry more load, more tread to start with, and are heavier. Some tire manufacturers may add another ply on the sidewall, but rarely. The AT3w's are two ply sidewall across all sizes (P or LT).

Are you from Falken Tire company?

If so, any plans of improving LT275/70R17 Load C in weight department? or even better, producing a Light weight P275/70R17 SL with 3PMSF rating?

I bet 275s would have a good demand if there are good tires. Right now either there is Load E options or insanely heavy Load C options in the market which forces shoppers to go up to 285. I bet Falken have good amount of sales in P285/70R17 SL with 3PMSF. (I myself have a set too). So may be look in to 275 market as well?

Yes. I work in the warranty/quality department. What I can do is relay this to the product planning team for consideration on a P/non-LT 275/70 as sometimes Toyota owners don't need a LT275 or the unsprung weight of one. For the most part (from my knowledge), 275s don't need much modification to Toyota vehicles compared to 285s.

I have noticed that over time E rated tires have become much more drivable day-to-day than they were 10-15 years ago.

Current day All terrains are more comfortable to drive on than yesterdays. This is due to the fact that majority of All terrains (speaking on most major brands) contain a two ply sidewall. You get the harsh, typical truck ride on M/Ts, where they usually have a 3 ply sidewall.
