New guy here! This is my saga.

I have wanted a 4runner since 2000 at least. I almost bought one back in 08', but at that time a Pathfinder won out due to the better fold flat cargo area. Heck I even almost bought an FJ at the time, but with kids in car seats, that would have been very impractical. Fast forward to this past May.

On May 26th I put down a deposit on an "order" for a 21 LR PRO. At the time, this dealer wasn't adding a "market adjustment" and claimed to be one of the only dealerships around that was still only charging MSRP. I knew it was a long shot so I didn't get my hopes up.

I messaged the salesman on June 1st to see if they got allocation for one. They did not. He also told me that they were now adding the "market adjustment" to all new sales and that I got my order in just in time. Now I just assume one will just never happen to come in with the specs I requested.

At the very beginning of July I get a call with some good news! They got allocation for a LR PRO, and it even had the sliding cargo tray that I was hoping for! I was given a VIN. I couldn't believe it. I looked up the VIN and sure enough it was real! I checked that VSpec out daily until one day it showed as an invalid VIN. I thought for sure it wasn't going to happen now until I called the salesman. Apparently they get assigned a temporary VIN until they are built! He gave me the new VIN.

My 4runner was built on July 30th. Left Japan on August 2nd and arrived in port on Aug. 19th. It still hasn't hit freight status, and now I'm just annoyed more than anything. I don't mind waiting, I was expecting to wait months, but this thing sitting in port now for longer than a month is very frustrating! Its only getting paint protection film, floor mats and some charging cables at the port, so its nothing that should be holding things up this long.

I check the Toyota website inventory as well as the selling dealers site daily now looking for my ride. I'm obsessed.

Anyways, thanks for reading if you made it this far, I'm just going to go back to refreshing the inventory page!

TLDR: I "ordered" a 21 LR PRO and it's still not here.

I have a LR pro sitting at port too. Was due to be delivered last week (ish) but dealership said there are further delays and it could be as late as November. Which port is yours at? Mine is hanging out in LA lol. I’m not stressing about it too much, she’ll get here when she’s supposed to.

I believe they also put on the wheels and the suspension setup here on the Pro.
With the 2022’s hitting the street, are you tempted to sell the Pro and get a 2022 LR ORP? Guessing with what Pro’s are selling for there is a chance you could greatly subsidize getting a 2022.

How do you track this info? Do you work at a dealer?
My salesman told me my TRD ORP left port the other day and should be at a railhead in Chicago on Oct 1st, then arrive at the dealer in Ohio between Oct. 5th & 10th.

Buddy, I ordered a LR Pro on March 11. The allocation wasn't until July 20. Hit the port September 2. Delivery was originally expected Sept 20, but has been pushed to "first couple days of October." The good news is they are holding their end of the bargain and selling it for MSRP which is $52,848 and it is coming the exact way I ordered it. If it were to hit their lot, they would be marking it up $2-5k. So, trust me, I know how you feel. I haven't seen anyone on this forum wait 7 months. But all things considered, I did well.

MSRP on a pro is quite a feat these days so I would agree with you! Mine is marked up around $6k. Totally worth it to me though.

I personally am not tempted. I like pro package and have been in love with this LR pro ever since I first saw her!

Pretty sure mines in LA as well, I plan to get confirmation on that soon. November would be better than December I suppose!

Dates were given to me by the dealer.

Now that's a long wait! At least it seems that I am in good company!

I feel exactly the same! Although I do have a price at which I would gladly sell it and get a 22.

    I understand your frustration
    Deposit June 30th
    Built in July
Landed on August 19th at port
I was originally told end of August first week of September for delivery then when it hit mid September I gave the dealer a call since it still wasnt here and was told that things were just back up so new delivery date is first week of October.
Only thing added at port was floor mats and headlights.
It's annoying waiting but it'll be worth the wait!

I can empathize, though I haven't been waiting nearly as long. Ordered Jul 18, arrived at port in NY on Sept 2. Dealer texted me yesterday saying it was on the truck and expected Sept 30, give or take a few days. The anticipation has been rough, but I'm just happy to be getting the vehicle I've wanted for 10 years.

The last few months port times have increased. "Mine" has a similar build date and was at the port for 5 weeks before going to Freight status.

Yeah 5 weeks is a long time, but feels so much longer when people post pics of their 22's being delivered already!

Here's my story of ordering a vehicle.

I ordered Bronco Sport Badlands on 3/19/21. It was built and set aside in June waiting on a chip. It's still sitting there with a projected delivery date of 12/24.

A lot of Bronco Sports were built in June that are still sitting. Meanwhile new Bronco Sports are rolling of the assembly line and being delivered. When I heard that the June builds were not getting finished and new builds were being finished, I bought my 4Runner.

Ford has provided no information to me other than to push back the delivery date twice.

Man that sounds really screwed up & weird for FORD to be doing this … Anyway, glad to see you decided to purchase a 4RUNNER … so which model did ya buy and share pics please.

It's 2021 Venture. Here it is at the dealer all spruced up for delivery. Since then Toyo AT3's put on and the roof rack has been removed

Awesome, Love that color! … I wish this color red was available back in 2016.… I owned a 1989 4R Deluxe model that was red and loved it; of course that’s when paint was better applied back then … Congrats!

Just getting one is a win in itself. I finally got it yesterday. I texted him on Monday, "any idea when you are expecting it?" He responds "still showing early October." Then he texts me yesterday(2 days later), "wanna pick up your truck?" I mean, just unbelievable. My dealer has had no clue whatsoever during the entire 7 month process.
