Add me to the list of hating the 2021 Pro sound. I'm going to give it a thousand miles. Just bought it. But. If anyone is considering a stock trade... I"m in Fresno, CA and it would be a 5,000 mile exhaust basically.
UPDATE: Yup. Can't stand it. Let me know if you're anywhere near Fresno CA and have a low mileage stock and want trade possibly.

PS. I emailed Toyota about needing to revisit the tuning. They're on it.

Looking to buy a clean oem setup out right in the Memphis area. Would also be interested in trading these factory rails for it too.

Update I bought the Magnaflow cat back with their anti-drone. I’m hoping this improves the drone.

I'm in Colorado, and I love the Pro exhaust sound too. I'm going up and down from 5,000 to 12,000 feet on the regular. I was kind of indifferent to it at first, but now at 7,500 miles, it seems deeper sounding and more satisfying. Not sure if it's the exhaust note that's changing, or my ears. Either way, I miss the sound of it now when I'm driving other vehicles.

Just curious, but has there been any documentation or info about the effect that the improved airflow may have on MPG with the Pro Exhaust? I realized that it may be negated by heavier driving to "get that sound", but generally, if you have better flow/less backpressure - all else, i.e. driving style being the same - it should improve 1 or so mpg. Just wondering?

So I purchased the used OEM muffler and tailpipe for $50 from earlier in this thread. Took it to a custom shop and for $100 and an hour of time, they cut the 2 hole flange off, flared and welded a 3 hole flange on the OEM non-trd muffler. Allowing me to keep everything bolt on. Allowing me to keep the TRD tailpipe with a Quiet muffler. I’m old.. I love it! Quiet and style points for $150. So.. I have a TRD pro muffler for sale. 3,900 miles off of a 2021. You can have the stock tailpipe with it. $350. Fresno, Ca up to Oakland or San Jose are can be worked out if u want a new, cheap PRO muffler. No shipping. Or. I guess I could keep it in my shed and have a noise maker for resale value. ‍♂️

Hi I just picked up my white trd pro. Love the truck, hate the exhaust. I'm willing to trade the trd exhaust for a stock or buy someone's stock exhaust if they are anywhere near nyc. The drone is ridiculous & it's not fast enough of a vehicle to justify the ringing in my ears.

I love the TRD exhaust on my 15 Tacoma. Granted different 4.0L. Practically no drone.

Yeah, I got that exhaust taken off with less than 800 miles. I just couldn’t believe they put such a crappy product in a $50K vehicle. It added absolutely NOTHING, but actually took away the driving enjoyment…

If nobody trades you, would you be interested in selling it? Not sure if the 2013 SR5 has any fitment issues. I am in Richardson/Plano.

And of course id trade, but mine might be a little on the rusty end lol.

When I was looking for options to get rid of the loud TRD exhaust I came across Walker Quiet Flow "https://www.walkerexhaust.com/" but not sure if its plug and play for TRD Pro 4Runners. As per pics it only has 2 bolts vs TRD exhaust has 3. I see a video for Tacoma on YouTube. I wish there is a quiet solution just for the TRD muffler and keep everything else as is.

Sorry, I meant if there were any alternatives to the TRD Pro muffler. I know of the magnaflow overland kit but was more leaning towards of just replacing the muffler.

Gonna be doing a universal magnaflow muffler but need for someone to measure there TRD pro muffler. My 2 options is magnaflow #12256 - 18" body or #12286 - 24" body.

Based on my limited research, it looks like the TRD Pro Cat Back Exhaust Muffler looks to be based on Xlerator Mufflers. http://sales.apexhaust.com/index.php/products/view/ap_xlerator_performance/C7

    http://sales.apexhaust.com/uploads/catalogs/Xlerator_Performance_Exhaust.pdf

It is much like the Magnaflow Ultra Flow muffler. I used to run these on my both of my tuned Dodge Challengers, and was not worried about drone because the V8 needed the extra flow, and would only have minimal drone.

To me, on City streets the TRD PRO Cat Back Exhaust sounds great! Where I live in hill country, going up hills/grades there is drone and gear hunting.

I just did an exhaust swap today with a member here, and we both have 2022's, so it was pretty easy and quick.
I prefer the stock set up, since I used to own a 2015 Limited and loved how it drove and it was quieter.

From a driving perspective, the stock exhaust provides more back pressure which is great for the 4R's V6 and throttle management. I can go up a grade / hill now without the Drone or hunting between 3rd and 4th gears.

For those wanting to change, I would recommend finding a stock exhaust swap which you can bolt in.

You can also find quieter mufflers, but that will most likely require cutting, splicing and welding, which is not bad if done professionally.

Just got a 2022 Trd Off-road and am looking to get rid of this stock (non trd) exhaust. Super willing to trade with someone and negotiate a price if necessary. Located in SoCal for anyone close but shipping isn’t a problem too!

I finally got my hands on the OEM non-TRD Pro exhaust and had a shop custom fit the muffler to slide into the sleeve of the Magnaflow Overland tail pipe. Now I got everything I want at last... quiet and high clearance side exit.

I can still remove the quiet muffler and bolt back the Magnaflow Overland muffler with NDT chamber as before, but most likely will not.
