What is "How far will your 2015 TRD Pro 4Runner travel if the dealership doesn't put oil back in after its second oil change?"

So, as you may guess I am livid right now because of this stupidity. They have taken full responsibility for seizing my engine and are replacing it with a new one. I was wondering if you folks could provide a list of things I need to have checked by an independent mechanic to make sure everything that should have been replaced with new was done and done properly?

Thanks in advance for any well wishes, internet hugs, mutual crying and advice concerning this matter.

    Ok,

I do not know everything but I'm a pretty darn good service writer at a well reviewed independent automotive shop that has been around for more than 20 years in MO. This is my .02 on the matter....

Tell them they are putting in a crate motor that is complete! Period end of story. Not a Long Block and then putting on all the old parts from the other smoked engine. This is why.

We all know the lower end is DONE! The rings bearings oil pump all of it is done. Depending on the damage of the engine it is possible that metal shavings are even in the cooling system too. See that happen before. So that means you do not want to reuse the Water Pump Etc... Again make it all NEW!

Fire away if you have more questions and I can even look up stuff and answer more questions

    Blue

UPDATE: Looks like they will be building it from a short block up..... Have fun guys.

That's insanity....Ive had the stealership leave empty oil containers in the engine bay before....but never heard of this. I found a small leak of oil in the driveway when I got home, popped the hood and found an empty and cut up quart container. Called the service manager and he defended his techs saying they don't use quarts since they have 55 gallon drums with pumps.. It was clearly used as a funnel though... pretty ridiculous Toyota dealership wasn't using a real funnel lol..

Geeze, I can not imagine your frustration and anger. Best of luck with the dealership...
70 yrs. old and NEVER had my oil changed by a dealer, words of age old wisdom.
Seems all dealerships offer a ton of checks n maintenance for free these days, ever wonder why?...guys, do it yourself! Tons of DIY info on this forum.
