Hey everyone. So after i picked up my rig that was sitting for a couple years and that I brought back to life, I tested my rear wiper and all of a sudden my rear window wouldn't work. Also the wiper wouldn't park right. I'm a mechanic, so I had to figure it out. So when the wiper motor is in the park position it completes a circuit between the rear module and rear window motor. If the wiper isn't parked right or just slightly off, the window motor does not get any power and it's inoperable. What sucks, is the module is what commands the wiper to park. So if it's not parking, more than likely you need a new module and/or wiper motor, it's quite a bit of work to replace either one and it costs money. I live in California, I don't need a rear wiper that badly. So I found a way to bypass the wiper motor and have the window work. It also requires less time and money. So, if you remove the panel where the rear speakers and light are at you can access the connector that goes to the wiper motor. If you disconnect it and jump the green and blue wires your window should work. It literally takes 5 minutes and it's worth a try if your rear window doesn't work. It tricks the module into thinking the wiper is parked. I hope this helps someone and keeps them from wasting a bunch of time trying to figure out why their rear window doesn't work.

I’m going to have to see if this is the reason my rear window stopped working. My sister let my 3yo nephew “drive” my truck and when I went to use it I was unable to open the rear. Thank you so much for posting. I’ll let you know if this worked.

Dezman92 you’re a freaking genius! That’s exactly what it was. Now I can retrieve all my crap from the back without having to crawl through the front seats.

Awesome! It’s just plastic body clips on that upper panel, shocked I didn’t break one…. So if you jumper the rest of the harness back together everything should work… Too bad I didn’t think of it until I put the panel back on…. Shrug:confused:

edit: If I had taken a minute to think about it rather than jumping on the trans filter I would have pulled those two pins and connected them and reinstalled the harness… Pro country boy tip…. Safety over function is 3rd…

I had to replace the relay module to get my window to work. Cost me $45 from ebay.

Where’s the location of that relay? I’m finding fuses and relays all over this thing… Blower motor relay is missing from behind glove box, I wonder what that means? I’m bringing this beater back for my teenagers… It sat for 10 years with a busted rear window and triangular window… I really like it other than the intake covering the passenger valve cover gasket… So far fuel pump (hate the filler neck bracket, too), rotors, pads, bearings, idler arm, oil filter (hate it put in mobile one extended), turn signal lenses, tires, trans filter, rubber brake lines, still need to check the rear diff and shoes, probably will do timing belt/tensioner/water pump once it’s legal and she needs a shock or two. So 2k in parts and purchase discounting my labor seems cool for a tank that they’ll likely crash anyway  especially if the ac comes back with just a relay!

I didn't understand the original poster's post or picture. But FWIW, my story....

With some coaxing, for some time my rear window would roll up a little then down a little. Finally it got stuck in the down position and would not be coaxed to move at all.

I spent a lot of time on the internet searching for solutions. Found many suggestion i.e. window motor, rear windshield wiper in wrong position, various switches, et al, but few solutions.

Finally found my fix (which has been suggested in this thread): it was a relay switch which is found behind the left hand panel in the rear (h/t trihiker). Found that part online, replaced it, and haven't had a rear window issue since.

Hi, this maybe a silly question but I am new to this. If am showing no power with a multimeter at the rear window motor. Does that definately mean it is the window motor and not a bad relay or disengaged washer motor? I would just buy a motor and put it in instead of asking but from looking at it that seems quite a bit of work.
Fyi, I have new relays but I don't even know where to start with that! Since when do you need to solder relays?

Did you ever get a reply to this
Hey Desitinationmoonandy, did you ever get an answer to this question? When I put a multimeter to the rear window motor there is power when I call for the window to go up, but NO power when I call for it to go down.

Best way to find out if it is the motor is to apply direct power to the motor.
