I got a little sick to my stomach when I pulled the cover off. I'm glad I finally replaced it!

Timing belt replaced in 2008 after 90,000 mies. Today the car has 137,000 miles on clock OR 329,000 miles based on CARFAX.
This car is a piece of mystery..
Anyway, the belt in a good shape?

That's your serpentine belt. The timing belt is behind a bunch of covers. You have to remove a bunch of stuff to replace it.

I have a 2005 4runner V6 and was glad to learn I have the timing chain. 170,000 miles - original owner. Runs like a new runner still. Not a speck of rust on the painted body. My GMC 1996 Jimmy turned into a rust bucket after 10 years. Sold it for $800 cash!

"When equipped with A4.0-liter engine, the 2005 Toyota 4Runner has a timing chain. Models powered by the 4.7-liter V8 engine have a timing belt. A timing chain is comprised of links that interact with the camshaft and crankshaft to ensure these parts are constantly synC-HRonized."

I don't know why everyone thinks the engine has been replaced. That 4.7 is good for a LOT of miles. Even my v6 with 310K runs just like a new one.
