    Morning everyone!

Let me introduce myself, I'm looking to move from a 2012 Tacoma DCSB 4x4 OR to a 4Runner. I find that my use for a truck isn't as great as my need for an enclosed climate controlled space provided by a SUV. Additionally, anything I use the small bed for on my Tacoma can easily fit on an equally small trailer.

I've checked out several models from a Venza, Highlander, Sequoia, Lexus GX & RX, Tahoe, MB ML, BMW X5, Acura MDX & Honda Pilot. My conclusion was they were any of (or in some cases all) of the following junk, expensive, for on road use only, girly, soccer momish or just fugly.

In any case I've narrowed it down to what I hope to be a 2014 Toyota 4Runner 4x4 Limited in Nautical Blue with Black interior. I like the ruggedness of a body on a fully boxed frame and the Toyota reliability.

It will have tinted glass and all weather mats in front & second row & cargo area. I will forego the, useless for me anyway, 3rd row option and running boards.

I'm no pro at forums but, understand a search function may exist. I'll try to make use of it so as not to be subjected to unwelcoming behavior exhibited on some other sites when it's not used to the fullest extent. However, I'm not perfect.

I'll post pictures (if that's an option) upon delivery & be looking for any and all input regarding what I hope is my future new ride.

Sorry for the long intro even prior to ownership so with that I'm off for questionable political comment somewhere in the threads. :)

Hello and welcome! I think many of us have jumped from a Tacoma to a runner. I call the Tacoma's the gateway Toyota because eventually you will move to a runner or tundra. :)

I agree with Hoyal. I just traded my 2012 MGM Tacoma double cab Offroad for a 2014 4runner Trail a couple of weeks ago. I rarely used it for the open bed ( except for moving other people's stuff ) and did not want to invest in a cap. Weathertech mats installed and I don't regret the switch.

Thanks everyone. I've slept on it and worked last night and I'm still pretty committed to a 4Runner as discribed above.

Devin is totally right about the tacoma being the gateway toyota. Just hope your addiction doesn't get as far as Land Cruiser! :D

Love the look of the new 4runners, can't wait to see pics!

    Update...

I spoke to the dealership where I went and drove a 4x2 4Runner last week and explained what I wanted to do.

This was all done with a few phone calls of about 10 minutes in duration total and several lines of texting.

They are bringing in the closest match from a neighboring state. It's a 2014 4Runner Limited with remote start, carpeted floor mats, mud flaps and running boards. I told them I wouldn't consider buying it with running boards so, they asked if I wanted anything else changed and I told them to slap on the darkest legal tinting, front & middle all weather floor mats and a matching cargo liner. I also told them to remove the runner boards and cost for said running boards.

The said it would be ready as I wanted by Monday some time and that they would install the inspection sticker to which I replied, remove all none factory stickers & ensure no one drives it and DON'T put any holes in the front bumper (no front plate required).

This is all being done without signing anything, leaving any money...nothing. I've told them what I would pay and what I felt my truck was worth and I wanted the 1.9% or less on the portion I finance. They said they'd do it. They even offered to bring it to me.

I'm going to go look at it Monday and if everything is as discussed I'll be bringing it home. It's almost too easy...so easy I feel like something might be wrong.

If it's all legitimate, I like the way they do business. I've gotta say I'm pretty pumped up about the (possible) new ride!!

A few things here and there. Still dreaming up stuff
I'm going to throw this out there. Don't get a 4x2. A 4Runner with non 4x4 is almost pointless in my .02. Almost every owner that has them ends up getting a 4wheel drive one later. So get it the first time and save your self the "what was I thinking" later. If you really have no need whats so ever then ok, I get that but most owners of 4Runners love to go outdoors, camping, fishing, and light wheeling in the back country if anything just to site see. So think about that and consider it. You don't have to go crazy and get a trail if there is no need but I'm sure the 4x4 will come in handy at some point for you.

    Blue

    And WELCOME !

some people dont wheel, dont need 4x4 and just like the looks of the vehicle. I wish mine was 4x2 for full LT.

    Haha I see what I did. :)

I will only buy a 4x4. Turns out most dealers here don't stock 4x4s so of the several 4Runners on the lot they had exactly zero 4x4s to drive. I had to test drive a 4x2 simply because there were no 4x4s. However, they one coming in is 4x4. Wouldn't have it any other way.

But, ya thanks for throwing that stuff out there!
