so I'm trying to figure out why the middle section of the back seat is so uncomfortable.got the seat out, and I found that there is a 5x5 metal plate about dead center under the foam on the seat bottom....explains why it's so hard. anybody here know what purpose this plate serves?y6LMKQ6CP0ljI_2Phzs_kJj7Z-ZGqDJeYprIQodg_82ce98b47da995520bb3f288b97de4af5419f0fd.jpg

Besides lumbar support, or load bearing support for when the seat is folded flat, I would guess collapesable energy absorbing structure if you got rear ended.
