SR5 i kept 265 until sold. My buddy got same spacer lift on SR5 with 285/70R17s. It looks so much better even with SR5 wheels.

How could it ride any different? I'm not even going to argue if this is a legit question.

It's exactly the same as stock, just higher. How does that affect ride quality? Seriously. It's the same shock and same springs. There's no "preload" involved. So, how does it ride different?

Edit: I've never used a spacer lift, so I'm genuinely curious how it could ride any different. From what I've read, it should ride the same. The real disadvantage from a real suspension lift is that you wouldn't gain any travel.

    Some spacers preload.

Either way his ride. I'd suggest something like OME or Bilstein.

Oh. I thought they just sat on top of the whole strut assembly and on top of the rear coils.

I could see some harshness if the rears were lifted too high on spacers and you would reach the limit of down-travel on bumps.

Right now all the suspension lifts are back ordered, if you need lift for bigger tires et all go with spacer lift , then you can figure out what you need.

I just bought a 2011 limited 4 runner , had been looking for bilsten suspension lift can’t find anything right now, also planning for spacer lift for now

I wanted to bump this thread for some advice. I picked up my first 4runner yesterday. I have a TJ that will now strictly be for Wheeling but even though the 4 runner will be a daily driver and trips to the cabin I would like to make it look better. Probably gonna do Bilstein 5100 in the front thinking 1.75 and would like it to sit level so need a inch In the rear????
Now I'm not sure what to put back there because I would like it to sit level on a day to day basis but when we load it up I don't want it to have that saggy look. All advice welcome

My first 4runner I upgraded from stock suspension to medium duty OME everything all around and it was night and day a better ride, on and off road, and whether loaded down or not.

This is what I had on mine. It was good on trails but a bad ride for slow speeds on local roads. Probably because I like softer ride on my 4Runners. I changed to ELKA after about 10K miles (I think), I was a MAJOR improvement over OME.

LOL ok well yea going from stock to OME to ELKA then I also agree ELKA will knock OME socks off. But just that first jump from stock suspension I think was already a good stepping point.

For my needs, I went with a 1" lift/level based on Billstein's and air bags in the back. Mine will be mostly over the road with camper in tow or "light" off-road / overland camping. I went air bags so that I could adjust based on load; to keep it level and not be tied to a static lift/suspension. Everything is 4 week back-ordered .. seems to be the trend these days.

    Nope, no wheel spacers.

My buddy got same lift with 285 KO2s. Much better look.

what size was the spacer lift that you had a bad experience with? Can you elaborate on how it negatively affected the ride?

I'm considering a 1" Cornfed lift up front. I really like the stock ride though, and would be pretty bummed if I negatively affected it. In fact, one of the reasons for this choice is to level it out and maintain the stock ride as much as possible.

I’ve had my 1” front Cornfed leveling kit and 265/70/17 Cooper Rugged Treks on for about 1k miles and love the setup. No difference in ride quality that I can tell from factory IMG_4569.jpgIMG_4571.jpg

Who makes these sliders on your 4R? I like how they are up high & tight to the body.

N-Fab RKR rails, not a true slider. They have optional steps that attach that you can buy but work great for light protection

What would you say the actual height of the rear lift is on that kit? I am gradually unassing myself to replace my getting kind of worn out Wheelers / Eibach / Bilstein cobbled together kit but I don't want to exceed 1.5" in the rear. I think the Stage 2R is a nice kit but there's no real info on actual ride height.

What sort of sag did you see after install?

If I'm not mistaken.....it's been a while, all three kits raise the rear by 1". They do have springs etc that can allow for greater rear lift for those that need it.

Even though it's been a bit since OP asked for recommendations, I wanted to jump in. If you're entry-level and not too into off-roading that much, you can consider checking out the OME Nitrocharger Lift Kit. It's budget-friendly, and Old Man Emu (OME) is known for high-quality suspension components. The Nitrocharger kit offers a subtle lift for aesthetics without sacrificing the stock feel. Plus, it's designed for comfort, making it suitable for daily driving. If you ever decide to explore more advanced options, OME also has the BP51 with reservoir and bypass technology for improved ride quality and control during off-road adventures. Feel free to ask if you have more questions!
