Yes, I live in AZ. How does the Pro dual climate zone compare with other trim's AC effectiveness? Better or same?
Granted, my 2020 Mustang will freeze me out but both my 2014 Taco and wife's 2020 SR5 seem to struggle.
Deciding about Pro or ORP and questioning both AC systems.
    Thanks

Both trims will cool down the same, as far as I know all 4runners utilize the same AC compressor. Only difference with the pro would be you can have a warmer/cooler climate on either side. If you’re wondering how it would do in regards to one side being warmer than the other, hopefully someone can chime in. I was in a tundra for a while with dual climate control and it did just fine for what it’s worth.

My sr5 4Runner A/C did GREAT when I lived in Mesa last summer. Not a single problem. Don’t know what is wrong with your wife’s A/C.

Toyota AC and especially the heaters are the shit. I freeze out in the Dallas heat in my 04 Taco and the 21 4R has more volume so it takes a bit longer to cool all that air, but otherwise awesome. Any dual zone is a joke and IMO marketing schtick to sell cars. "See honey, you can have your own zone!" The air mixes and averages out in 2 seconds.

I had a Tundra with dual AC control. Never though it was useful when all you have to do is tune the vents to suit you. I would think this is even more true in the smaller cabin of the 4R where the air is circulating around and mixing up more.

I agree that the AC in the 4R is weak, noticeable when you are driving in 110 deg desert heat.

I would not chose a 4R trim based on whether it has dual AC controls or not.

Sheesh. Wouldn't pick a trim solely on AC. Wife does like dual control but certainly not the primary reason for Pro vs. ORP. Just curious if dual set up might be an improvement over basic system in ORP. I'm leaning toward the ORP with "enhancements".

I have dual zone AC in my Pro. I doubt it’s any more effective than regular AC. That being said, my AC is great — in the 100 degree heat we’ve been having here recently, I’ve been cold in less than 5 minutes of driving.

I'm north of you in Casa Grande and my '21 Venture's AC does fine, even on the hottest of days. I do have ceramic tint, though, so that may be making a difference.

As for heating and cooling performance both TRD ORP & Pro and exact same with mine.
Only thing I've noticed the automatic controls are dumb in TRD Pro. I don't like it automatically switch air intake to recycle mode & fresh air mode. I manually select air flow to recycle as I don't want the smoke from other vehicles in traffic.
Also on winter days I see A/C is on. Not sure why it can't be turn off automatically.
I guess automatic HVAC controls are not a strong point for Toyota..:D:D:D

My '20 Venture works very well. I did tint the windows however.

For me, the less bells and whistles the better. That's why I'm perfectly content with my base model SR5. It still feels like a luxury car compared to my previous 97' Tacoma.

IMHO, most American consumers want as much bling as they can get. I prefer the opposite.

Oh, I get it. I'm an old man coming from crank up windows and locking hubs. My thought had always been "more electronics more to go wrong". Years ago a friend said "electric 4x4 and auto tranny allowed him to drive and hold his coffee cup". Made sense.
Electronics have come a long way.

I for sure agree to a certain extent, I'm a Dinosaur myself. I will not buy a vehicle if I can't check my engine oil level (dipstick) i don't go by changing oil and filter every 10.000 miles. I change oil & filter every 3000/4000 miles (Full Synthetic) as well air filter and cabin filter. I change sparkplugs every 50.000 miles & do a compression test.

You have to watch the dealership “Mechanics” not so long ago they overfilled the engine oil on my wife’s Acura.

The good thing about technology, cars last longer, cars are safer, disk brakes and ABS have saved a lot of lives. Software made sure that the milage improved, less Carbon dioxide (better combustion) etc. Just my 2C.
