The major part of the profits of a US built Japanese vehicle still go back to Japan and boost their economy.

Oh, that makes sense. I think we're on the same page here.

I do see the irony about preaching by American as a member of an enthusiastic website for a vehicle that's made in another country.

I was just trying to say that there's a logical reason to buy a foreign vehicle even if you prefer to support American businesses.

    All good.
Reason I bought Toyota was for the history of reliability. I wanted a Japanese built vehicle.

I researched Jeep Wranglers and common problem on the various message boards.
Sand Casting engine failures turned me away.

My first time owning a Yeti product. I’m 33CEEA7C-3EB1-426A-9EB9-39A1E6FDA5B6.jpg impressed. I can only imagine how good their coolers are.....

I dunno I own everything Yeti.

I got one for my Monster Drinks, One for my Trulys (No need comments on my drinks), Little Day trip bag & a hopper along with my Toyota cooler.

Don't care if its overpriced. I like I buy pretty simple.

Just cause I wanna participate.. I love my Yeti Tundra 65. Perfect size for the 4Runner, keeps ice frozen for days (during the fall/winter, at least, lol).

Cool info on that Toyota cooler. Thanks for doing the digging! I wish it was a little less "bulky" for the interior capacity, but I agree that it's *neat* and, assuming it lasts, will be even cooler in a decade or two.

Can you update on how well the cooler functions? Does it hold ice for a couple/few days like an RTIC or Yeti would?

I have a Tiffany blue RTIC and a totally tactical FDE YETI both in 45. They’re the same. ALL rotomolded hard coolers are essentially the same. Probably made in the same Chinese factory in Wuhan.

*YETI does not make their hard coolers in the us, they just have “facilities” in some us states.

Lifetime coolers are made in the USA, and mine kicks ass so far. I don't know if it has the same ice retention as Yeti, but it's been fine for an extended weekend in direct sunlight. ~$150 for a 77qt beats the hell out of Yeti prices.

Yep. Yeti makes some components and some coolers in the US but most are made in the Philippines, and China. Here’s an interesting article about it.

Yep, good enough for me. I left some brews in a cooler I forgot on the porch, went to grab them a couple days later, and still cold to the touch, with just an ice pack.

I finally broke down and get a plug in cooler, definitely a game charger, my old regret was not getting it sooner. I have the lifetime as well and it's a great cooler

Please tell me more about what you got, I believe an electric will be my next cooler purchase as well.

The only thing that YETI makes that I would consider to be a good buy are those reusable ice packs filled with the blue liquid.

I have noticed that other brands tend to bulge and deform when they are frozen repeatedly and won’t remain flat.

I would definitely recommend them, even if the big ones are kind of expensive.

And, to add, I don’t like using water ice because it melts and makes a soggy mess which is a problem if you use your cooler to transport food from grocery stores.

Also, dry ice is impractical unless you are preparing for a long trip or live close to a supermarket that sells it.

I have a couple cereal sized Tupperware type containers, I freeze them and use them when we go camping. While at camp, I can dump off some water and add ice to the container as needed.

Look for one that doesn’t care. That seems to be how people are getting these.

This always irritates me as well. For camping, I bought some watertight food storage containers and that mostly solved the problem. But, it can still be nasty if the nightcrawlers get submerged while camping.

I enjoyed this thread. Thank you, good people. I like that army green cooler but it looks like it is impossible to find now. What I really want is one of those old school Coleman's in that Coleman green. Unfortunately any I find look like they were used for street cones in Manhattan.

I bought some from RTIC last year around this time. Cheaper than yeti, no bulging so far. I definitely recommend them.

Been using a Coleman Extreme cooler for the last 20 years, but time for an upgrade. We don't do extended day trips often, so hasn't been a huge issue, and it's not overly heavy and stores a lot of food/drinks for it's size footprint, but just doesn't keep ice past three days and may start doing longer trips now that we have a brand new 4Runner. The new breed of coolers are HEAVY and bigger on the outside due to the thick walls, but hinges are built like a tank compared to our Coleman, and have an actual divider to wall off two separate areas, and a decent basket for loose items.

I got the Yeti Haul on wheels. I love it despite that it may be more $ than other similar options. I would not buy a yeti without wheels—-way too heavy after I load a few cases of beer in it.

I freeze large “bricks” of ice in old Tupperware containers and use them rather than cubes. They last way way longer! I also have two of the large yeti ices.
