with the key in the "Off" position, to press the "Display" button, then turn the key to "Accessory", while still pressing the display button, to reset the "Maintenance Required" setting. A few days and many frustrating attempts failed to do the reset.

Hello, YouTube!! Turns out you have to hold the "Odometer" button (while it is in Trip "A" mode) to do the reset.

    2018 SR5

Any other mistakes in the manual?

    Every YouTube instructional video:

0:00 hi, I’m douche McNozzle and this is my video about resetting the maintenance light on a 2018 Toyota 4Runner

1:00 As you can see, this is a 2017 Toyota 4Runner. *fumbles with selfie stick, shaky view of the outside and inside of the truck*

2:55 As you can see, you push this button here, and then you turn the wheel. *Gets sequence wrong, doesn’t show details of what he’s doing, even though he gave us clear views of his bald head for the last three minutes*

5:00 Don’t forget to subscribe so you can see other videos of my sad life!

Or the guy that criticizes Youtube vids instead of having an answer to the topic at hand. Thanks for your reply. Was very helpful.

It derailed this thread, hugely, in 3 posts. From an honest question to "Youtube Critic". Very efficient.

Guess I'll find the mistakes myself. Thanks. (See your first line as to what i think)

I was going to post a annotated PDF of the user’s manual including all the mistakes, but now you’re not gonna get one.

Could you at least pretend to act like an adult.

Oh c’mon, that was funny! Lol.

I do appreciate having the manual for those times where there is no access to the internet or during complete blackouts, but as the years go on, it seems finding the info I need in car manuals is getting harder and harder. And if I do find what Im looking for, it doesnt offer that much info at all. Or confusing info. It could be age...

Youtube used to be pretty helpful, but often is so full of time sucking crap (see above) that Im starting to give up on it. The worst ones are the ones made purely for “content creation’s ” sake, with no research, incorrect info and commercials to add insult to injury. And two hours later, you are wondering what happened to the morning and why you are still watching helicopter crash videos.

The last bastion are forums like these. Usually, most are helpful if you are willing to take the occasional RTFM smack down. Forum searches usually find my questions pretty much discussed and verified for accuracy.

The 2018 Owner Manual has some flaws as do most technical documents. But in this case you compounded it’s unclear description by the user error of jumping too quickly into action.

The text on page 345 of the 2018 manual says “While pressing the display change button (—> P. 83), turn the engine switch to the “ON” position…”

If you refer to page 83 there’s a drawing of what they call the “display change button”. It’s what most of us call “the odometer button”. It’s goofed but you can clearly see what they mean. It’s not the “DISP” button on the steering wheel.

Now apologize to @LandCruiser so he’ll post his errata sheets.

I actually find the manual to be pretty good, and I would rather use it than view a video. I absolutely trust the manual more than I do some half-wit who barely speaks English greeting me with "hey you guys" and begging for 'likes' and a subscription to his piece of shit channel before he ever gets to the heart of the video; a video, which, invariably, will not contain the information I seek.
