I hate HOA's

Ya rly. We don't even have fully legal non-medical dispensaries here in New Jersey yet even though the law to legalize it passed, and things are already starting to smell like the time I visited Toronto in 2019. I don't want to smell this crap. It's awful. I'm afraid I'm going to get a neighbor one day that's going to make opening windows in the spring and the fall untenable because they'll be doing the crap.

From a practical perspective, even I think weed is better than cigarettes, but I'd far prefer to smell most cigarettes over that nasty weed.

 

I will live in a box before I let anybody tell me what I can or cannot do with MY home.
Would NEVER live in a HOA neighborhood!! Period!!

 

What difference does it make to you what people legally do on their private property?

 

I do not need a HOA to regulate or protect me! That is my job, and I have no problem doing so.
If I have an out of control neighbor...I will let them know, and deal with it. Don't need Mom & Pop to watch over things for me. I can get a message across on my own.

 

I actually support and voted for legalization. I have also encouraged my own mother to use it in treatment of her cancer and other issues.

I lived in Hawaii and smoked occasionally. Haven't smoked it for 30 years. Quit smoking cigarettes 3 years ago. Quit nicotine completely a few months ago.

I think smoking pot for recreational use is a negative. Anytime you use a drug or chemical to alter your consciousness is a negative thing. But I also don't think that someone smoking dope at home and not driving under the influence is my business, which is why I said "whatever" in my previous post.

Do I think people should do it? No. But I did vote for them to have the right to. So, whatever...

This convo turned from dislike of HOA’s to the smell of pot smoke.

When I lived in Arizona I had neighbors that smoked outside on a nightly routine. Before it was allowed I was against it for this exact reason. I didn’t care if people wanted to do it, I just don’t want peoples decisions to impede on my life too! I would literally stop everything I was doing outside to go inside because of the smell. Needless to say that was one thing that I don’t miss now that I moved away. That crap can smell up a block and while I believe people should have free will, I don’t think it should impede on others enjoyments in life. Smell up your house with that stuff but don’t smell up the outdoors (good luck selling the house if it smells like that).

Why can’t marijuana smell like pipe tobacco. That crap smells good.

Anyways back to HOA’s. Happy to be done with them. Now I live in an apartment where I have no choice about anything. But just bought a house on 2.5 acres and no neighbors close by so it should be really nice not worrying about that anymore oh an NO HOA or rules. I can have a cow if I wanted to.

 

IDGAF what people do on their own time in their own homes but posting a fucking meme about how weed gave someone their life back is fucking asinine. It's wrecked way more lives than it's "saved". Maybe the suburban housewife in Buttfuck New Jersey can toke by her pool and relax after a rough day of dealing with crowds at the outlet mall; but her joint is rolled on the backs of the indentured, missing, and murdered.

In Humboldt Co CA we have 25+ murders a year (in a county of 130,000) and probably double that in missing persons who are never found (because they were murdered really good) and every one of those is directly attributable to dope grows. Mexican cartels are moving in and doing battle with Russian mobs in the hills, and they are fighting over weed. The trimmers that are seasonally hired live in dismal squalor akin to modern day slavery. The mega grows trespass onto public lands and destroy waterways, habitats, and outdoor recreational opportunities. It's not glamorous or good. It's criminal and it's despicable.

 

I am anti HOA in every way & no disrespect ment. The smell of anything could be a HOA issue. Some may not like the smell of my meat smoker while others dislike the smell of a firepit. There is also noise pollution (we had a "band house" across the street) but they were respectful of the 10pm noise ordinance so we let them enjoy. Hell, my inside stereo can be heard outside our house. But that is during the day while cleaning.

You have some good points but that is a very narrow view of things!
Kids with seizures- helped by THC
Cancer patients- can eat due to THC
PTSD- many benefits.
The problem is that it is still illegal & therefore criminals are involved as stated.
Nothing is perfect & criminals will make money on anything that makes money.
