Ok so I have an 84 4Runner and the steering is awful it has a 3 inch lift and 31s I have come to the conclusion the steering gear is failing. I have large amounts of play in the steering wheel and I can turn farther to the left than the right (more turns to lock). So my question is it possible to rebuild this gear in a garage or do I need to take it to a shop or do I need to buy a remand gear, if the later where is a good place to get one.
