I was looking for a quick and simple way to charge my iPhone 12 Pro Max, without having it sitting on the center console or on the dash and came across this simple solution. The also keeps the iPhone 12 Pro Max out of sight while still charging and bluetoothed to your radio.

This center console tray (made by many other companies) fits the iPhone 12 Pro Max perfectly - only problem, there is no room left over to hook up a charging cable.

Hardwire Option 1 For Apple CarPlay - Drill a 1/2" hole at the front of the tray and run a 1M USB cable to the dash.

Wireless Charing Option 2 - Double Sided tape the Apple Mac Safe Charger to the inside of the tray dead center, then cut a hole in the rubber to let the charger ring poke through.

    Apple MagSafe Charger - https://amzn.to/3xqBRXz
    JDMCAR Console Tray - https://amzn.to/3wvYium
    Blaubeck Dual 40W USB-C 12V Charger - https://amzn.to/3xnGL7G
This 12V 40W Dual USB-C Charger has enough power (20W per port) to run the Apple MagSafe Charger off the 12V Adapter (3.3A).

There are some older 36W (18W per port) chargers out there, but Apple specifies the Mag Safe Charger needs at least 20W to run in full power mode, else it defaults to a slower charge rate.

I wonder if any of these wireless charges have charging rate as good as wired fast chargers?

Just curious since 5G / LTE cellular is consuming lot of power and on top of that when you use Bluetooth to play music via head-unit will consume even more power.

Also wonder how efficient wireless chargers are vs wired with all the movement on trails.

CarQiWireless charger is compatible with iPhone 12 Pro / 12 / 12 Mini. I don't see the iPhone 12 Pro Max Listed???

Can anyone confirm that this even fits the iPhone 12 Pro Max?

No, this is only for charging Apple iPhone 12's which use a different charging unit that older iPhones (8-11). To use Apple Car Play, you still need to plug it into the dash socket.

Do you have ‘21 with CarPlay. You’ll need a dongle like this to make it wireless.

Carlinkit 2.0 Wireless CarPlay Dongle Adapter for Factory Carplay Cars U2W Wireless carplay, Online Upgrade/iOS 13-14, for Porsche Mercedes Volvo 2016-2021, Convert Wired CarPlay to Wireless CarPlay. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088PR3QQJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_PZSZMTFA8VJ05RDEA0KF?_encoding=UTF8

On a side note, have anyone tried using an USB hub on your 4Runner?

    User case?
May be have USB Media storage + Androidauto / Carplay. When you don't want phone projection use USB media storage to listen to music.

This is an interesting charging solution. But my phone is almost always propped up on a holder for navigation. And charged with a cord.
I also need to maximize that center console space for all my junk. ;)
