I am going to be taking delivery of a lunar rock trd pro here in the next 1-2 months. I was looking into paint protection film for the front end (bumper, hood, front fenders, side mirrors). I have been quoted anywhere from $1.4k to $3.2k.

Curious to know how much everyone has paid? What kind of film? And after having it for a while do you feel it was worth the price paid to install it?

    Thanks in advance

My boy bought me the 3M precut bra. Very nice quality. Not sure what he paid, probably around $200.

We installed it ourselves, it was a PITA, but turned out great.

    Good luck

My next 4Runner, I'm definitely paying for for Xpel or similar.

Where's that post with the black 4runner freshly wrapped in the protective film? Had a matte finish and it looked awesome.

Sticker on my "Northwest Protection Package" was $3K but negotiated down. Sorry but I forget how far down. That said, it covered all the front facing areas including the "A" pillars and mirrors. Also door edge guards (don't need 'em) and and pockets behind the door handles (that's good one). It also included a BS paint protection (five year supply), windshield stuff (rainx?) and leather protection. You might want to have the front of rear wheel flares included.

The film is quite thin, but I don't have any rock chips after 16K miles. That's sayin' a lot for Central Oregon, and it's guarantied for life (yeah, right) from pealing. As thin as mine is, dirt collects at the edges. Did I mention we gots lotsa dirt here? LOL! Good luck! Negotiate!

I should mention that the quotes I have gotten were from 3rd party places. I live in California but the vehicle is being purchased in Nebraska.

Not sure if I should fly out and drive it back and get it don’t when I’m back in California. Or have there vehicle shipped to prevent damage before I am able to get it in for PPF.

I paid a ridiculous amount, but I got the entire truck paint corrected, ppf (from Myko Designs) installed on headlights, fog lights, hood, front & rear bumpers, fenders, mirrors, door cups, and rear hatch, 3M ceramic tint applied to the windshield and the front driver and passenger windows, and then to top it all off, ceramic coated everything (Kamikaze Collection).

Man you went all out! Curious why you only tinted the front windows and windshield? Were they able to match the rears pretty good?

The rear half of the car is already factory tinted so the front windows were done to even out the appearance. Also, most of the use is in the front seats, so no reason to do the other windows. I went with the ceramic tint primarily for the heat resistance and UV protection - it really makes a difference!

About $6k. Paint correction and polish brought it up more. It was a solid 40+ hour job all-in and great labor isn’t cheap.

I hand wash every other week and wax twice a year myself. My paint has been ok. I say OK because black always shows the slightest imperfections.

I have X-Pel on my bumper and half my hood and fenders. Was roughly 1400. Definitely helps with preventing rock chips.

After 3.5 years with no PPF on my silver ORP I have a few rock dings and chips on the front end, all the soft plastic stuff. Can’t avoid it. I touch it up with Dr Colorchip paint every so often. No big deal. I bought it to use it. If it gets real ugly in the future I’ll just paint the front all matte black.

The hood has no significant chips. The big annoyance is the windshield. A few minor chips but lots of tiny spots where it gets peppered from tiny particles like sand. I really notice it in the low angled sunlight.

If I ever spent $6k on paint protection , shoot me....nah wait.......I'm already dead. (My wife killed me first)

@funrnnr I must say it looks amazing! Considering the amount of orange peel my truck has, I understand why you got the full paint correction. I figured I'd wait a few years until I got some trail rash before I go that route.

I tried the Lamin-X door cup film, didn't come out good so I took it off and of course now there's scratches there even though I'm extremely careful when opening my doors. Very disappointed in Toyota paint quality.

OCD and disposable income is a helluva combo. Totally understand everyone has different priorities and budgets. There are certainly times I wish I was more easy going.

I’m not really all that interested in modifying my truck (been there, done that), so I just spent the money elsewhere.
