It scared the shit out of me we hadn’t walked to the pool edge.We had just sat down at the table and were chatting drinking coffee all of a sudden the dog goes nuts we look over and see the thing coming out of the pool via the steps a good 7 footer. It went back to the canal behind the house like nothing ever happened.

Toyota is going to have some fun dropping my fuel tank with my Shrockwork Rock Sliders which connect to the tank strap.

I wouldn't let them touch my skid plates. They would probably bill you for an hour of labor anyway.

I remember on my 19 I had lower control arm skids on and needed the right side shock replaced as it was leaking the tech would not take them off so I had to remove them and bring it back.....

Just call your dealership, they should have your VIN in their database.

Whelp, I’m dropping mine off this morning. I have Shrockworks sliders on there so we will see what they say. I thought about dropping the driver side, but after going thru the install process again I feel confident they don’t have to touch them to drop the tank. I dropped the tank in order to fit the brace UNDER the fuel tank strap, so they hopefully don’t need to even think about it.

My 18 SR5 Prem was done a couple of months ago. It never gave any issues before and hasn't sine. Only thing is they wanted me to bring it in with less than 1/4 tank of gas.

    Yes, when I was at
my dealership last month, the service advisor said they hadn't had any customers with an actual pump failure, which is good.

From what I've read, it seems to be more of a problem with cars in very hot climates.

Who knows, but I'm glad that Toyota is taking the proactive approach.

This is one of the reasons I'm a Toyota fan boy.

To those of you that haven't had the new pump installed yet, make sure you call your dealership ahead of time so they can order the replacement kit. I don't think they keep them on hand, at least that's what I was told.

Thanks for posting this link. A pertinent section of the document reads:

Q3: Which and how many vehicles are covered by this Safety Recall?
A3: When this Safety Recall was first announced on January 13, 2020, there were approximately 564,300 vehicles covered. On March 4, 2020, this Safety Recall was amended and covered a total of approximately 1,433,050 vehicles. On October 28, 2020, this Safety Recall was amended to include a total of approximately 2,760,500 vehicles. On December 18, 2020, this Safety Recall was amended to include a total of approximately 2,768,500 vehicles.

I couldn't get the table listing the "Toyota Models/Model Years Included as of December 18, 2020" to show up properly here, but the bottom line is the list includes 4Runners from the 2014-2015 and 2018-2019 MYs.

    I use the nhtsa.gov website.

    https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls

Edit; I made a word document with my VIN so I can just copy and paste into whatever website you choose. This makes it easier and faster than typing in the number each time.

All done. 2 hrs labor. Didn’t touch the sliders, didn’t mention them. Overall easy peezy. Of note, I think there were literally 15 vehicles for sale on the lot and not all of them were even new Toyota’s. Crazy!
