Mahahahahaha! A friend just bought a clean 1998 4x4 extended cab Tacoma with 110k miles for $5k here in Arizona. Has a little pinstriping, but is otherwise in great shape.

This guy is looking for a sucker.

There was a 2014 Tacoma 4 x 4 manual transmission short cab short bed with a cheap topper in the Sacramento area going for almost $22,000. 140,000 miles.

Thought I'd check out this $12.8k Tacoma, just for grins. Body is pretty good, just the usual 18 year old truck dings and such. Engine looks good and runs well, transmission shifts like it should. Needs brakes, they pulse when coming to a stop. Tires out of balance, pretty good steering wheel vibration @ 60 mph. The dash sounds like a fireworks show, with all the pops and crackles. GLWS at that price, he didn't really want to come down any.

Good news is, I really appreciated my 4R on the way home!

Does it have a stack of plywood in the back of it or something?

Found another 2001 Prerunner, 3 hrs. away with 166k. Still seems too high, even at $8500, in decent shape. I guess it's just the worst time ever to look at used trucks. Everyone is jumping on the overpriced used truck bandwagon.

Its out there, but unfortunately not that far out there. For that price I expect a vehicle with half the miles and a manual transmission. Even if it had every option that I wanted it would still be too high. Normally this shit wouldn't fly on the used market but its the covid days so everything is priced unreasonably, and in good condition these aren't far away from appreciating value purely for collectability

Might go take a look at this one this weekend, just for grins. He did accept a lower offer. I just need to see it in person to see what's up...

This guy was supposed to come to Abq last weekend to have the emissions checked. Never showed, and has fallen off the radar...oh, well...

If you thought the first truck in post #1 was high, check out this one:

I mean, great shape & mileage, plenty of maintenance done, but $18k for a 2003 Prerunner?
