    Hi guys,
I'll get right to the point. I'm finding lots of 1st and 2nd gen 4runners for sale locally with blown/knocking/none at all engines. I have a complete parts car (03 Vibe AWD) for my daily (05 Vibe FWD). So, how hard would it be to get a 1ZZ-FE to go into a 4runner? I know it's not the best engine choice for one but, I already have it and everything to make it run in something else. Just need some more Toyota knowledge.

    Thanks

Think Toyota Matrix with Pontiac body panels. I have a complete parts car with a crap transmission but a good running 1ZZ-FE in it. I'm wondering how bad it would be to stuff that motor into a 1st or 2nd Gen 4runner.

Aren't these transverse mounted 1.8ltr. engines? I had one in my '99 Corolla. Peppy little engine, 120hp I believe... No torque really tho. Most likely more trouble than its worth.

yeah it's not much on torque but I was thinking it would work for a daily/mild trail rig plus right now it's just sitting in my driveway and I keep finding cheap 1st gens with blown/no motors

Just get a 22re..... and build it ..... I rebuilt my 22re for my pickup a few years ago and it was bad ass..... I got all my parts from http://www.engnbldr.com..... I spent about 2grand with machine shop work .... bored it .40 over put a mild cam in it..... complete rebuild..... had 35s on it with 5:29 and a Aussie locked and that lil Toyota pickup would do a nice brake stand plenty of power.....
