    2016 Trail Edition

Previously had ICON 2.5's w/ JBA UCA's set at 3" of lift in the front. ICON 2" with OME shocks in the rear. Truck rode good, tracked straight, squatted in the back because of all the added weight. Had spherical bearings going out so I found a set of NIB King's on marketplace and made the swap.

I recently had a shop in Denver replace the front end setup. Went with the SPC UCA's and the King 2.5" Ext Travel and 650lb springs. (I do have a slimline front bumper and winch, steel skid setup) I replaced the rear setup on my own in the driveway before the front was done. Went with Dobinson 701v coils and the King 2.5 Ext Travel w/adjusters on the rear. I do have some weight in the rear but not a ton.

The truck has a ton of understeer and some moderate bumpsteer since the front replacement. Keep in mind I did the rears in my driveway about a week before the front was done and I didn't have this issue. At highway speeds when I move right it almost feels like I'm going to roll over. When I move left it isn't near as bad. It has moderate sway, swaybars have been off since forever and didn't act like this prior to the swap. Truck does ride rough (stiff) as expected due to the higher weight cap springs.

Is this a Nitro pressure issue in one of the front shocks?

Do they have the front lifted too high?

Are my coil rates too much or too uneven front to rear?

Yes, they did. Did not get an alignment sheet with it though.

Can you take it back to the shop? Sounds like they did something wrong.

That 4Runner looks sooooo good. Love that bumper cut and the low profile winch bumper.

Question to experts other than the issue reported by the OP.

Does the angle on the front look ok? I was just comparing with mine and thinking with that angle will there be much travel in front? (I was thinking if we could keep it flat as possible it will give more wheel travel.) Sorry if it's dumb question, I don't have any technical knowledge on that.

How many inches of lift up front now with the Kings?

It looks like the kings are probably cranked up as high as they go, so they won’t optimal performance at that setting. If alignment is in check, I’d try lowering the amount of preload and seeing if that fixes the issue. Rear springs seem to have a rating of 215lbs-260lbs which is fine, 650 for the front seems perfect for your setup. You could also check the settings on your resi adjuster to see if that helps. One thing I would also check since you have KDSS, is make sure the sway bar is in check and angles aren’t crazy or off. Since it’s controlled by hydraulic fluid based on the angle on the vehicle, that could cause some issues I would think. They make drop brackets for the rear sway bar.

Non KDSS truck, and no sway bars on it either.

Center hub to fender is 23.5". It was at 3" of lift previously with the ICON setup and they were supposed to match it. I did not get a hub to fender measurement beforehand.

Didn’t all trail editions come with KDSS?

Not this one! I've honestly never heard that. I can definitely verify this is a TE though.
