Here's a few of my old fly fishing reels. There's something about the simplicity to them that I really like. The middle two are click and pawl. The 1494's have a basic drag system. Left to right:
    • Pflueger Medalist 1494DA. Probably from the late 60's - early 70's, manufactured after Shakespeare bought Pflueger, hence the "DA".
    • Pflueger Medalist 1492. Early 60's, now lined with DT3F.
    • Martin 62. No idea on it's age, it's another 3/4 weight
    • Pflueger Medalist 1494. Early 60's, lined with DT4F. I have the box for this one too.

I also picked up three new fly rods yesterday. All Eagle Claw, all fiberglass, 3 and 4 weights. Reviews basically say that these are great rods for the money. Not the flashiest, nor the highest quality, but decent rods. I haven't even lawn casted them yet. All three rods cost around $100 total with tax. I decided I wanted to stick to fiberglass this year, as much as able. Not mine, but it looks the same:

Now I just need to find some time to try them out!

You can release tension on the spring manually for storage.

As I write, I am packing several fly rods for my daughter and her husband. A couple of Phillipson Dry Fly Special 5-year cane rods, a couple of graphite salmon rods and several large boxes of fly gear and fly-tying "stuff". Bad knee and I can't wade anymore! Switching over to (UGH!!!) BAIT and spinners.

One reel is a Hardy Golden Prince and one is a Tioga (both 5wts). Salmon reels are RedinGton 8wts.
