Posting this for more fun reading: Apparently captsolo-fordf150 is an expert on WS fluid...in a 3rd gen.

Here's a crazy idea, how about you quit insulting members when they ask a legitimate question? That is why you got banned from the other forum, can you just act like a mature adult for once?

You clearly do not know what fluid belongs in a 2005 4runner. If you are sooo sure of youreself just post a pic of the engine bay or gear shifter! Why is that so difficult for you? You post pics of boats & fish when they are completely irrelevant to the topic, but you cant post a simple pic of the gear shifter in your 4runner?

The only "garbage advice" on this thread or any other you post on is from you. The thread link I posted above proves that, are you seriously suggesting that everyone on that thread is wrong too? Please, post a pic & prove us all wrong. We will be waiting....

Beat it Toy Yoda. Bug some other posters.
Take me off your list of insults.

Didn't you tell me to use WS in my 2005 4runner - purchased from new?

WS is not compatible with T-IV which came in my 4runner and has been used by the dealer when maintenance was done ever since. The Japanese who built my truck used T-IV.

Your advice could ruin a person's transmission.

On page 261 of the TOYOTA OM.
    Use Genuine Type T-4.

Notice in big bold: Using ATF other than Genuine Toyota ATF Type T-IV may cause deterioration in shift quality, locking up of your transmission accompanied by vibrations and ultimately damage the AT of your vehicle.

List of insults?? Sorry buddy but stating accurate info is not an insult... insults are what you do when people try to help you or correct your constant misinfo.

Yes I did tell you to use WS in a 2005 4runner because, THATS WHAT THEY CAME WITH!

For the last time, 2005 5 speed 4runners did NOT come with T-IV! It's like talking to a wall!

Just post a pic captn, prove us all wrong. You are the only person in the history of 4th gen 4runners that thinks a 5 speed uses T-IV.

My advice could ruin a persons trans???? You just posted as your alias F150 on T4r forum that it's OK to use WS in a 3rd gen that takes dex!!!!

My 4runner came with T-IV right from Japan. I've used T-IV for 15 years with no problems (160,000 miles)

    What don't you understand?

Go out and buy the owner's manual (OM).

    Please. Just go away.

T-IV is backward compatible so you could use it in a generation 3. I would research this more and call a Toyota dealer to be certain if I owned a 4runner older than 2004..

That info is from a 2000 owners manual, you tried to post that on the t4r thread too & other members posted a link to a 2005 manual that says WS! Post a link to a 2005 4runner OM or just post a pic of your engine bay or gear shifter. Pretty please??

Page 261 of the 2005 owners manual is about the garage door opener. Could you use the correct year please? Heres a 2005 owners manual, please look at page 414, tell us what trans fluid type it says & then tell us where the word T-IV is ever even mentioned? We will wait for your reply.....

    https://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM35843U/pdf/OM35843U.pdf

Notice: Using automatic transmission fluid other than “Toyota Genuine ATF WS” may cause deterioration in shift quality, locking up of your transmission accompanied by vibration, and ultimately damage the automatic transmission of your vehicle.

Wrong again Toy Yoda. page 261 of my 2005 OM (which I have in front of me - HC - not an internet link) says use T-1V - which the Toyota dealer used in a D/F in 2009.

Also Toyota writes on page 261: "Change ATF only as necessary."

    Just drop your communications here. My OM says;
    Forward
    Copyright 2004 on page i

I own a 2005 4runner from new. Do you own any (2005) Toyota?

    Post some pictures, please.

You said the exact same thing about page 261 on the T4R forum & others proved you wrong. Why is your manual different than the link posted which is the exact same as a hard copy? Are you suggesting toyota.com is posting wrong info for owners manuals?? Whats the link "backoff" posted say??

Simple way to end this & prove us all wrong, just post a pic of your gear shifter or engine bay. I dare ya.

I'll take a picture of my 2005 4runner hard copy owner's manual after work. @captsolo is my 2005 4runner transmission different than yours? Should expect it to say T-IV or WS?
