I guess I'm going to have to block out some time on the ol' schedule for a Costco gas run next time I need it. I'll see if I can figure out what time of day they're the least busy...

I keep forgetting to go there. I found the one by me isn't too bad later in the evening.

My Chevron gas card gives me $0.10/gallon off each time I fill up, so it's not all that much different from Costco, to tell you the truth.

Costco is great if you want cheap premium gas in California.

And it’s “top tier” so you won’t run into problems with the warranty (not that I believe in top tier gasoline status).

I have nothing against Chevron, but I don't see any of their stations with prices comparable to Costco in my area. It's not even close, actually. Cheapest Chevron near me is $3.49 for 87 vs $2.84 for 87 at Costco. Both brands are Top Tier, and I honestly don't notice any difference in quality.

The best time to hit up costco gas, First thing in the morning when they open, or just before they close on a weekday. Weekends are a complete shit show almost all the time (except first thing in the AM before costco itself opens) and even the weekday lunch hour is busy with a lot of older clientele. I have a buddy who thinks I value my money more than my time for going to costco for gas. but at 40 to 60 cents cheaper a gallon (depending if I'm filling up the T4r with regular or my Golf R with premium), plus the 4% cashback with citi, I'm saving 10 to 20 bucks per tank of fuel. That alone pays for my costco membership and then some and I always go when its quiet so I'm not waiting in line.

Same here. I go early in the am before the Costco warehouse opens and there is no line. The Costco gas opens at 5 or 6 am.

I use raceway for my non-turbo cars.

They’re one of the cheapest here.

What’s most important about your gasoline is not regular or premium, it’s that you use one with a high detergent additive package; a Top Tier gas.

    https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2016/07/aaa-study-finds-drastic-difference-in-quality-of-gasoline/

    https://newsroom.aaa.com/2016/07/aaa-not-gasoline-created-equal/

    https://newsroom.aaa.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Fuel-Quality-Full-Report.pdf

    Excerpt from the AAA report:
“Refined gasoline is transported via trucks, tanker ships and barges, or pipelines to various distribution terminals across the country. However, the refined gasoline is still not ready for use by retailers because a detergent additive packages has not yet been blended into the fuel.
Base gasoline (fuel without additives) from various refineries is usually stored in common tanks at the distribution terminal until a retail gas station places an order for the product. This is when the individual brands are created through the addition of proprietary additive packages. As a tanker truck is being filled at the terminal, base gasoline is blended with a detergent additive package specific to that retailer.”

    Here it's maybe $0.10 - $0.15 difference. Still, that's $2-$3 per tankful...

Yikes. I just filled up at an Amoco (Top Tier) for 2.73 a gallon.

No kidding. Like I told my wife when she asked about the 4Runner's gas mileage, It's a truck. It doesn't get gas mileage.

Having had cars for years that got better MPG but similar range due to smaller tanks, I like to think of it as how much it costs to fill the tank. And since those other cars all took premium, my price per fill up is about the same.

I know I know, there are plenty of other vehicles that take regular and get better gas mileage. But guess what, the last time I had a car like that I can't even remember buying gas for it. So to me the 4Runner seems totally normal....

Not sure if we've seen summer blend increase or not?

If not? We're on our way to $5 bucks.

Man, I'd love to crawl around some of those a/c! There's probably not much left to them except the hulls. I've been on a lot of bases, but never made it to EDW...

That actually makes sense since the alcohol in the E10 has less energy (BTU/gallon) than gas plus the 4Runner can't do anything to take advantage of 91 octane since it's designed for 87.

Don't know about looking back, but when done I can remember paying over 5 bucks a gallon and I also remember when my Dad refueled for 13.9c a gallon.

LOVE it! We use a bunch of this in a year(about 55 Gals.) VP race fuel is a little more here in Wisconsin.... $15.00 a gal. Nothing like feeling "violated" while your having fun!
