    2021 4Runner SR5
Good evening everyone. I'm Mitch from SE Michigan. So after years of dreaming, I finally ordered a 2021 4Runner. I'm excited to join the community.

I always wanted a 4Runner. I ordered an SR5, White on black, blacked out, TRD wheels, no bells and whistles. Like most anyone else I'm budget. I leased with the intent to buy at lease end. I know I may catch some flack for that but I have other obligations that will be complete before the lease is up and will be in a better position to buy when the time comes. I know I'll pay more in the long run but the used car market is ridiculous and I couldn't justify paying thousands for a high mileage beater to drive a few years and then try to buy another vehicle. In the mean time I needed something. Hoping to take delivery in mid-end July.

I spent years wheeling in a S15 Jimmy before parting ways for a 5th Gen Camaro. (Sorry, Chevy family) Its been a blast the last few years but I quickly found that itch to get back into getting off the beaten path and also needed a larger vehicle as my kids are growing like weeds. We also have a crew cab Silverado for towing and a remote location in Northern Mi for getaways. The truck is great but 2 adults, 2 kids, and 2 dogs for a 4 hour one way trip is getting the best of me. With the 3rd row of the 4runner my youngest can sit in the back with his dog and my oldest in the middle with his for our trips.

In the mean time I play the waiting game. I was told about three months, is that a reasonable time frame with today's production issues? Should I expect more or less? I intend to follow the break in procedures, I only live a few miles from work and average around 6k miles a year. I'll probably start pushing that with the trips up north but I could easily keep it around a long time.

I tend to get attached to my vehicles and keep them till they die. Especially today, I never could understand today's formula: make the trucks bigger, make the engines smaller, unibody "SUV's", etc. I mean I get the why, but that is what has drawn me to this truck, The current 4R is exactly what I want. Robust, big V6, legendary durability, true off-road capability, etc. If anyone has any tips or pointers of what to expect my first few years please let me know. This is my first Toyota, and if all goes well that Silverado may become a Tundra.

    Thanks!

No worries, i'm also waiting for my 2021 4Runner. I was told 3-4 months. I already have my new tires and wheels, floor mats. I just sold my Dodge pickup and at age 56 this is the first time I've never owned a truck. Seems strange but looking forward to the 4Runner... Just figured you should know you're not alone... :)

Welcome aboard. Mine is an SR5P white with the blackout package and I absolutely love it. Marco, I’m 60 and have never driven anything but a pickup until now (except my motorcycle after my pickup was stolen until I could afford to replace it).

Welcome! I "ordered" a TRD Pro on March 17th. The dealership I went through hasn't even gotten the allocation yet let alone the build date. I've seen people wait 3 months, I've also seen people wait 8 months.

    Hi Mitch,

Welcome--I am also from SE Michigan (Troy/Royal Oak area). I ordered a 4Runner ORP back on March 12th, it was built April 27th and in route to California I am told this week. I think the ports in California pose a bottle neck now also.

Congrats on your new 4R. From what I am told only the Pro models can no longer be ordered. My buddy wanted to order a ORP like mine and my sales person says the current wait time is 4 months if ordered as of last Thursday from Japan to Michigan.

Well there were some delays. Dealer had issues getting the vehicle do to a lack of truck drivers but its home! Pulled in the drive with 11 miles on the clock. Beyond happy with my decision. I've never owned a vehicle so new!

Sheeesh...after reading some of the posts on this thread, sounds like I got my 4runner in the nick of time. I've seen 4runners on dealer lots within the SF Bay Area, with some messed up markups...even on SR5 Premiums! But the most egregious markup I saw was $14k on a TRD Pro White...not Lunar Rock, but White!

Good hunting to all you waiting / seeking your T4R's!
