Yes I do agree the stock leds are on the weak side. But they are 100 times better than stock halogens I had on my pre 2020 ones. You have no idea how scary those were. I immediately changed to high output halogens but later I changed to leds. LEDs I got from Headlight Revolution were by far brighter than those high output halogens. Needless to say how happy to get long life leds vs halogens with less life.

I guess changing leds on your Trail would be easy. My TRD Pro has both low beam and high beam on same projector. I don't know I can change the entire headlight housing, I bet the wiring might be different. This is why I like the old simple style we had.

I'm still on the fence whether I want to pick up a set of stock LED's for $1K. With my Diode Dynamics fogs, I don't hate my lighting. I'm concerned my OCD won't allow for the 2 spots. I hardly drive at night and for half the price I could add a 20" lightbar in the upper grill.

Please keep us posted. I'm very interested to see anyone getting light bar upper grill that does not require any trimming. I don't mind removing some existing plastic tabs and replacing with nut and bolts fitting a bracket replacing those plastic tabs.

I really don't want to mess up with the new wiring as both high beam and low beam in has projector. Wish Pro and Limited kept low beam and high beam separated like other trims.

Do the dark spots go away if you run the fogs with the low beams?

From what I understand, the Baja Designs and RIGID 20" bars fit with the SDHQ brackets which I already have. I just haven't chosen a lightbar yet. I think the RIGID midnight has been discontinued so I would probably need to go with BD.

In my experience no. Fogs have a stricter cutoff line near by and the low beam dark spots are towards the top of low beam cut off line.

My 2021 Leds headlights are starting to bug me with the driver’s side void.
And what about those weird looking rectangles on both sides? Lol

My 4 runner has the old halogen bulb headlights, they suk too. ......................as for Nissan...the pathfinder is a ladies grocery getter car now. Frontier pickup is decent , but Toyota is better.(except at making headlights).

The good news in all of this - anyone who's dissatisfied enough with their 2021 driver's side cutoff and annoying 'spots' in their led headlights to the point of ridding themselves of this substandard vehicle - Carvana/Carmax/Vroom will most likely give you what you paid or more to take it off your hands. Problem solved.

yes the resale value is insane right now, if you are looking to trade in for somehting else you will do well to do it NOW
There is a shortage of new vehicles because of a computer chip shortage. Everything on the lots is selling fast and used cars are highly sought after right now.

I guess I just don’t understand why they couldn’t clean up that line. They designed the entire car very beautifully. It’s extremely distracting in certain situations... never have I ever paid this much attention to my headlights.

This is the first Toyota I have actually owned but I have never seen such a distracting feature in any headlight regardless of the Brightness throw of the beams

You should drive one with halogens. I bet you would appreciate the LED’s even with flaws. That’s why I’m trying to buy stock LED’s to replace my halogens. $1K is steep, but better than the halogens even with the upgraded bulbs.

Couldn't be happier with mine. If you do enough night driving and plan on having the truck for some time, the investment is well worth it. If it fits the budget.

at this point the budget has been blown on the 4R. I don’t drive at night much, but when I do I feel like good lighting should always be a priority. And the only thing lacking from my Pro is LED headlights. I tried the Alpharex and they were trash.

I went ahead and bought a set. I figured it was a good time to buy especially with such low volume of 4R's available.

You will be blown away in the lowbeam output! Regardless of the weird void.

I am currently driving a 2020 Mazda CX-5 and it has led projectors and it too has a void spot in each side just like the 4 runner. Like a rectangle shape void.

Honestly I do not see the big deal with the spots. Being blown out of proportion. And as others have said, it makes sense it is intentional to help with not blinding oncoming drivers. I live in an area where most people have newer vehicles with LED headlights and they can be somewhat blinding due to increased brightness. Been many times i think their high beams are on but aren’t. Never flashed anyone though. Especially the damn Acura’s with 4-5 LED modules per headlamp.
