New to the site but love toyotas. My 99 4Runner drives fine in 2wheel. Put in 4wheel and started whining and grinding sound towards front. Put back in 2wheel and its fine. Could it be cv shafts or what?

The front cv axles and diff are always spinning one would think that if it were the problem u would hear it all the time but then again it's just coasting also..... Check your u joints.... Jack the whole truck up put it on stands all around and put it in 4 wheel and let it idle and check it out have a buddy on the brake just in case though...lol
