Joining on behalf of my wife. I am an FJ40 kinda guy! I have a '69 FJ40 that is a "Chevota" restomod with a 350 Chevy V8. I have had everything from a Subaru Brat (Yeah, I know!) through several Toyota 4WD P/U, Scout, Jeep (worse 4x4 I've owned!), Bronco, Ramcharger, several Nissans (Frontier, Xterra and a couple of Pathfinders), and a prior FJ40. In '84 or '85, I drove the Mojave Road/Trail from the Colorado River to San "Berdoo", Cali. That summer, I explored/pioneered the USFS roads from the Berdoo County Line, near Mt Baldy to the I-5 in Newhall, with VERY little pavement travelled. Besides the desert, I hunted Ft Hunter Liggett for deer, quail, and wild pig.

I have a BS in Marine Biology and an MS in Animal Behavior and recently retired after 20 years with the Department of the Interior as a Wildlife Biologist in Northern Cali and Central Washington, where I live now. My MS Thesis was on black bear behavior and required extensive off pavement travel throughout Angeles Forest. I also worked part-time as a hunting guide on wild pigs and deer.

Now, to the 4Runner: Since I retired, and my wife will be retiring in two months. We felt we did not want to have vehicular worries, so we recently bought a 2019 4Runner SR5 with less than 17K miles. We are very FAVORABLY impressed (I was working under it, and saw how sturdily it was built!). I will be keeping my FJ40, which is having a fair amount of work done to correct the 1/2A mods by the PO but the 4Runner will be our main ride. So far, I have added side rails and a roof rack.
