I go to Outer Banks annually. I air down my Pro to about 15-18psi. Ive never had a problem.. I got to reading a lot of posts around the internets about overheating (in particular Jeeps).

I kind of wonder if driving on sand should I use 4low to multiply torque and decrease loading on engine?

Too many mods and too much money
In thick sand, your transmission will heat up in 4hi after awhile. The 4Runner can handle a lot of terrain in 4hi, but I've had the trans temps spike well over 220*, after extended periods. If your just going a mile or two, that's not too bad, but it is better to go to 4Lo.

Good to know. Like I said I’ve never had a problem. I probably drive 40-50 miles on the beach the week we stay. Town and back daily plus a little exploring.

I go 4low sometimes so I can play with MTS features. Lol.

Terrain Condition, Speed, Tire selection, RPM, etc. play in this game, I believe. When you feel, you back down. Most cases, your mind will be correct....

Welcome from Wisconsin! Shifting the trans manually might be something to try also.
