I was outside today I noticed something weird...
The rear wiper on my 2007 4Runner was on, while I’m outside of it and it’s locked with no keys in the ignition. I got in and I noticed some other gremlins. The small display showing outside temp, time, and climate control is also still on with no key. Along with the blend door selection light and the recirculation button light.

This is all intermittent. I’ll hear some relays clicking under the dash and the rear wiper will turn on or any or all of those displays will come on. All with the ignition in the off position.

I’ve checked simple things like battery is clean and at 12.5v. There’s no blown fuses
    13.6v at idle.
Wiggled different parts of the harness to see if it may affect it (shorted wire?)
I’ve unplugged the ignition switch and it is still happening
I’ve unplugged the wiper switch (in steering column) and it is still happening.

It has no issues starting or running and when it’s running with key on everything works as it should.

I’ve researched for a couple hours now and I can’t seems to find anyone that’s had a similar issue. Any ideas or help with this would be great!

I will definitely check that tomorrow with some light, thanks!

No issues with the trailer wiring connection.
I’ve pulled all fuses to see when the displays will turn off and the only ones are IG1 and Ecu-IG. As well as under the hood, the “short pin”

*also just found that if, and only if I put the front wipers to high everything will turn off.*

That battery voltage at 12.5 is a little low. Should be 12.6 or higher. Just for curiosity I just checked mine and it was 12.82. Not sure if that could cause your gremlins but these cars are known for having a weird glitch related to the battery and the rear wiper. When the battery gets weak a lot of times the rear wiper will wipe one time when cranking. And if I read you post correctly it doesn't do it when the engine is running, which would have your voltage higher. Worth looking at anyway. Good luck with it.

Correct, these issues only persist once the key is off. Everything functions like it should while key is on. I’ll definitely look more into the battery and go get it tested. I was thinking that if the battery had an internal short or bad cell that the voltage would be much lower

Like I said, I'm not sure if that's your problem but it's worth looking into. I don't know what causes the wiper to wipe one time while cranking with a weak battery but I suspect it's probably computer related. Maybe the lower voltage is confusing the body ECM and causing this. If you have a charger or a set of jumper cables you could connect it and get the voltage up a little and see if that affects it. Good luck.

Update: ended up just buying a new battery, it was from 2017 and was a little weak on cca’s. Didn’t fix the problem
